I have noticed several times now that when I go to do a "sell similar" often the promotion rate is set at a way higher rate. I'm like.....was that like that the whole time?? Rates that I NEVER would have chosen. At first I thought maybe the sell similar function just auto changed it, but why that and nothing else? And...it doesn't always happen. Has anyone else experienced this?
I'm going to be more careful when I launch a listing, double checking that the rate is what I intended since -maybe- I overlooked it. Seems suspicious.

Definitely triple check that!
Just because you’re selling similar, it does not mean your promotion rate will stay at whatever % you had it at. In fact it’s notoriously known for always being set at some high “recommended” percentage and will many times change even after you update!
Before you hit list, CHECK to make sure whatever % you entered is just that! At times I’ve actually had to do this 2-3 times to get it to take!

This has happened to me several times...the last time the promotion rate was 13% instead of my normal 2-3%. Now, I double check 50 items a day and when I list, I check that page also.

I've had the same experience but I didn't connect it to sell similar.
I noticed when I went to choose a promotion % on a listing it would not allow me to.
instead it said 'this item may be connected to a group promotion which i never set up.
When i went to counter an offer It said the item was connected to a group promo at 9% !
WHAT!!!!!
I'm a new seller and can't figure out how to get it removed
