Y'all notice.....how conveniently eBay made it so you can't see how much you're paying when you decide on a promoted listing rate? Only the percentage shows. The support agent I mentioned this to claimed "they were reporting the issue". I see it hasn't changed..........

eBay doesn't show the Amount but eBay shows only the percentage. You can check the amount through an excel sheet ( Let us consider a simple example )
On a 15-day vacation, Mr. A spent 10 days in his hometown and 5 days in the USA. What percentage of days did he spend in the USA?
The calculations are given as follows:

I guess you didn't look around for any answers.
They are purposely not shown anymore because starting June 1, Ebay decided to re-calculate promoted listings on the total sales price with tax and shipping. Since tax and shipping can't be determined until the buyer purchases your item, Ebay can't display the amount.
Hope that makes sense, I'm tired.

Yeh its no good and you can't choose 1% anymore.
06-18-2022 05:25 AM
Although some may not be able to use 1% for PL , I still have that option...As of today, I have not received any notice that tells me otherwise nor have I seen it written anywhere in announcements. Only posts from sellers in this forum.
It is possibly something random that eBay is doing.

Yes, I've noticed that too.
Plus, today I noticed my Promoted listings are showing up only at the end of the search. I don't even list in the organic results. These are listings I'm paying 6-8% extra for and am lowest price, best rated.
I think eBay has created a glitch. I'm starting to think promoted listings are actually getting worse results and I think I'm going to cancel all of them until eBay works the issue out.
Here's one example:
Brizo 63043LF-SS Litze Arc Pull-Down Kitchen Faucet w Knurled Handle - Stainless
I searched:
- Brizo 63043LF-SS
- Brizo Pull-Down Kitchen Faucet Stainless

I got a notice in their ebay messages (on all accounts):

ooops...answer to OP got cut off....
Since the promoted rate is determined by the TOTAL of the sale, it can't be calculated until the sale is completed now.....
before 10.00 item | 4.00 Shipping | 1.12 Sales Tax @ 2% Promotional Fee was 0.20 Fee (Item X Fee)
NOW
before 10.00 item | 4.00 Shipping | 1.12 Sales Tax @ 2% Promotional Fee will be 0.30 Fee (Item+Ship+Tax X Fee)
So, since they don't know the shipping and Sales Tax beforehand, they can't possibly determine the promotional fee until the sale is complete....
"...The support agent I mentioned this to claimed "they were reporting the issue"....
this is typical

In their shoes, I would do exactly what eBay does - because the seller can edit the price after a listing goes live and that would alter the fee.
Plus the calculation changing soon and showing a dollar amount would be impossible.

Promoted listing is just a scam perpetrated by Ebay to suck more money out of sellers!!!! Every seller should cancel all promoted listings and tell Ebay to take a hike!!!!! It's not unlike the scam where they take a final value fee from shipping!!!!! That seems to be Ebay's thrust now!!! They just want to see how much they can suck out of sellers. I'll bet they negotiate with the mega sellers and cut them a break on all the fees!!!

Promoted listings are the best thing since sliced bread. How am I supposed to get my Womens Size 7 Black Shoes at a place where a buyer can see them since there are 700,000+ listings?
Pay per click has been a thing on Google, Bing etc. for over a decade. How do I get my website on the 1st page? Pay per Click.

I have not received said notice and my listings are still being promoted at 1%. Thanks for sharing your message though.
I still think it's sent to random sellers. If it was directed to all sellers wouldn't it be in announcements not just sent to individual sellers?

...good point....i do not know the answer though.....
maybe as the implementation date gets closer, it will be in a seller announcement...i would hope so
in response to your reply, i checked and i did NOT receive that message on one account that does utilize promoted listings.....

I strongly agree! I think what's happened with Ebay over the past 8 years is a dramatic shift into the Asian Market and also a huge investment in the NFTs if you read this...
"This launch by Ebay is exactly unexpected because they had reportedly mentioned last year that the company was looking to explore this space in order to invite more blockchain-driven collectibles to the platform."
Ebay is a huge e-commerce company with a massive presence and it wanted to venture into this particular ecosystem to be able to compete with other crypto Non Fungible Token marketplaces that are already existing out there.
see link - https://bitcoinist.com/ebay-enters-the-nft-launches-first-nft-collection/
Also check this site out: www-qoo10-jp which is one of Ebay's subsidiaries and I found this info regarding the acquisition:
At the time, Qoo10 operated six online e-commerce marketplaces across Asia – in Singapore, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong and China. It had 17.6 million registered users across the region and a combined turnover of more than US$408 million in 2014.
eBay’s investment this month would value Giosis at $573 million, given the cash paid combined with eBay’s shareholding of $266 million.
And there are also other sidelines in Korea and India which Ebay runs.
This stark reality gives me the perception that maybe decisions of conducting business is being strongly influenced by Foreign Investors who don't have much empathy for the North American Market.
So my thoughts are, that trying to sell at our scale or level is like - Being in a forest at night with a lemonade stand and hoping the cars a 100 feet away will stop and buy some! We are lost in a Massive Sea of competing forces, and unless you heavily invest we don't stand a chance to gain success. We might as well all just have our own websites now.
Thanks EBAY! We helped to grow the company but now we are just pawns!

You would think with all the extra money eBay made during the pandemic (BEST fiscal year/s ever for eBay) and now finding yet more ways to take even more fees they would reinvest in marketing specifically tv ads that benefit everyone on eBay, not just sneakers, trading cards, and eBay Motors. eBay has a lot of marketplace competition and all of the other competitors run lots of tv ads including: Amazon, Etsy, Poshmark, Mercari, Deal Dash, etc. As we seemingly are headed into a recession in addition to shipping fees going up and super high inflation people will have less money to spend on items in general. In addition the fact eBay got rid of their eBay Bucks Program and have run absolutely no specials or buying incentives since January 1st 2022 it feels like eBay is going to implode! Sales have been way down since June 1st which coincides with their rollout of their new promoted listing change. In fact on June 1st we had our lowest sales day of the entire 2022 year by far. The search engine and site problems at eBay are out of control. eBay is no longer the only marketplace in town and if they don't get their stuff together it's going down in flames!
