So when I first started using the variations, I was a little generic with some of the names. Now I need them to be more specific or just plain sound better, but I can see no way of renaming a variation. My only option seems to be to delete the original variation and create a new one with a better name. But doing this requires updating pics, quantities, prices. I don't have the time for that.
Is there a way to rename them that I'm not aware of, or am I just stuck with bad names?

Are you talking about what you call the items in the drop-down menu? Sorry - not clear on the question or issue.

Not sure what you are asking either, but you can click on revise the item. You can then revise the title, or variations, without having to make a completely new listing.

Sorry, I should have been more clear.
What I would like to rename is the (Variation > Attribute > Option) Option name that appears in the drop-down menu on the actual item listing.

I have found no easy way to do what you need to do. I often want to re-name the drop-down items but can't without a lot of extra work. You don't have to delete the whole listing but you do have to delete the variation (along with all it's photos, count and price). Do the "re-order" and then the "save variations" option to cause it to be removed. Then put it back in to the listing and re-attach the photos. It is quite archaic. I recently used the "feedback" link in the variations page to ask eBay to allow the option to be re-named. The feedback link does open an email link (rare these days) so you can attach screen shots to get your point across. If enough of us do this, they may make an improvement?
