Re: PERKFIVE Promotion?

Evidently I think it may work on those listings not accepting Paypal. If that is the case, why was that so hard to put in the terms?

How does one find qualifying items...items that don't accept Paypal?

From your original post:

"Eligible items are items with a $5 discount coupon available through the offer code PERKFIVE displayed at checkout. "

Re: PERKFIVE Promotion?

So you don't know if they're eligible until you hit checkout?
Reality is the leading cause of stress.

Re: PERKFIVE Promotion?

From what I've been told, there is no way to do a search for items not accepting Paypal. One could waste a lot of time searching. Don't know why Ebay can't include that as a search option.

Re: PERKFIVE Promotion?

lol...yes, I saw that but clearly and surely there is a way to do a search for eligible items beside just clicking on all items that Ebay sells. Ebay couldn't put a link in the promo for eligible items and make it easy for us? Or simply just putting those items not sold via Paypal would have been a little bit of a help.

Good question. The OP asked, "Does it just work on certain items?" My answer simply reflected that, yeah, it only works on eligible items.

I frankly have no idea what makes an item eligible, and when eBay offers those kinds of discounts, I usually just pass instead of getting frustrated about what qualifies.

I have the same issue with my Barnes and Noble membership discount coupons. It seems the "20% off Mystery Books" never includes the mystery I'm interested in buying. Same goes for any of the genre-specific coupons they offer. I throw a book in my cart and nope, doesn't qualify. I usually end up contacting their customer service rep who got fired from eBay's customer service yesterday and has been hired by B&N today.

I'm a bit slow today--could you point out where it says it works only on listings not accepting PayPal? I've reread the details and can't pinpoint that exception.

Thanks!

Re: PERKFIVE Promotion?

It isn't written anywhere. Someone just played around and found an item that doesn't accept Paypal and it worked. There is no way to do a search of just those items so this could be a bit time consuing. lol

Re: PERKFIVE Promotion?

@brads_ann,

I found a seller that is in the Managed Payments program, and their items are eligible for the PERKFIVE promo.  So that is probably the key to which items are eligible.

There was no indication on the listing that a promo or coupon was available. But this is what an eligible listing looks like (payments section):

Also, this seller's items still showed up even if I set the filter for "PayPal accepted". This filter does NOT screen out Managed Payment items that can't be paid for with PayPal.

I'm not aware of any way to search specifically for items that are in Managed Payments. I found a seller who had posted here in the Community that they were in it, and looked at their listings.

***GENERAL REPLY***

So are we all just supposed to flounder around looking for sellers who are participating in the Managed Payments program?

Or--I guess we could check the discussion boards for sellers complaining losing sales on the program and throw a little business their way. LOL!

Yes, it appears that way.

Coupon or not - I AM NOT COMFORTABLE using this so called Managed Payments. If I can't pay using the privacy and security of PayPal - then I don't need that item that badly.  So it is not worth my time to search for such nonsense. A seller should be able to choose what payment methods suits their business best and not be forced into this stuff.

If eBay chooses not to fairly offer a coupon for everyone to use on whatever item is chosen... well, I just don't need that extra bias and discrimination in my life. Stress... no thanks.

Remember when eBay stopped our eBucks for a while - whereas if you did not buy enough products to make it worth their time, then you were not allowed to use them? Had to earn at least 5$ worth to use any at all.  So much of a fuss was made, they finally rescinded that horrible idea.  My point, is I'd just be happy to recoup what was rightfully mine that I feel was stolen from me.  So add the coupon to my eBucks...

Re: PERKFIVE Promotion?

@pburn, that's pretty much what I did in order to investigate if items in Managed Payments were eligible.

They're not advertising this coupon on the home page, it is only being displayed when you get to checkout with an eligible item in your cart. And it does say that you have to pay with a credit or debit card. So I guess it isn't deceptive as far as that goes. But it is an incentive to complete the transaction, even if you were expecting to use PayPal.

I reported to the blues once before that Managed Payment items (no PayPal) were still showing up in search with the PayPal excluded filter. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't want to fix that.
