I have noticed that Ebay is advertising on a banner - New deals every single day, what price will we slash next?. The question is, is Ebay just slashing prices without the seller consent, or are they asking sellers to cut their prices. It seem like Ebay runs these ads like their selling products themselves, but in fact an assortment of different sellers are selling these products. If Ebay is going around just cutting prices without the sellers consent, I may have to think of a different option if I am going to start selling items on Ebay.

no, not without their consent. They make deals with sellers who can supply the "deals" at a cheap price......... There are times when they do a % off the entire site and in that case, ebay is footing the cost.

eBay doesn't do anything to the prices.

EBay occasionally runs 10% off promotions on eBayCanada.
The 10% of selling price is covered by eBay, not the seller.
I've found it helpful with my discount postage sales.

As a seller ebay sends me, nearly daily, requests that we drop these prices, or those prices, on and on.
We usually ignore them but I'm sure some sellers don't.

You are reading waaaay too much into this.
Like it or not ... good or bad .... accurate or not. .. eBay is a "brand" unto itself.
When a buyer is asked where they got an item, they generally do not say "I got this from a seller named Bob Smith, who is a third-party seller who has a set up a virtual store within the eBay marketplace."
They say, "I got it on eBay".
eBay is simply exploiting the shorthand of eBay as the "brand" to make general statements about the pricing of item that are available within the marketplace.

Those deals are set up, as you said, with selected sellers who have chosen to be part of the promotion. No worries. Unless you sign up, you are safe.

People who are doing great on Ebay have lower prices. Ebay is not deciding the price, the seller is.

I'm afraid you're right. And it's unfortunate.
Nothing matters to most other than price. Not service, not honest condition description, not lots of photos, not longevity, not reputation, not this guarantee or that guarantee. Just what comes after the dollar sign.
