PANDEMIC what will EBAY do? other companies are working with the people who make them possible

Ebay must do something to support its sellers----drop all listing and monthly store fees during pandemic--or be called out for doing nothing when it is over---this is the time for business to pay back

I understand that. My point is that unlike people with jobs they can literally not go to, and subsequently, cannot make money from, eBay is still "open." That means there's still potential for income.

Exactly.  This is not like the bartender who now has no source of income because his bar has been closed for the indefinite future.  He cannot work because his workplace is closed.

eBay sellers can keep on listing and selling as long as they are healthy.  Even in the Bay Area (where my sister lives), the post offices are still open and people are still allowed to conduct necessary business. They can't close the post offices because people (and businesses) who have PO boxes need to be able to access their mail.

From the news, I have a feeling that ebay isn't going to be hurting for sellers, if some have to change their 'situation'.  The news has that Kansas has declared schools will be closed for the rest of the (school) year and that the California governor is considering the same move.  Just think how many teachers and school staff are going to need income and they can sell on ebay.  I wonder to whom they are going to sell?  But, ebay should be able to support the whole country, shouldn't they?

Because i ended a whole bunch of listings, ebay gave me options to relist them for 1 or 2 dollars less. in my head i thought it was a great idea. the next thing i know i look at my seller page and already i have tons of fees for next month. The only thing i can think of is that they charged me for every listing i relisted with their option.

@thevintagedesigner1   Its a nice thought and I am sure eBay will be getting Federal money to pay it's employees while they are out of work (or at least permitted to use some low interest business loans) ... who knows if any business insurance covers something like Coronavirus as a "natural disaster"?

As to Sellers, I don't know if eBay will be in a position to do anything ... sure waiving fees would be nice but I am doubtful anything will be offered ... I hope I am wrong ...

What makes you think eBay would receive Federal financial assistance? They are not in any of the sectors that are being considered.

What makes you think eBay employees will be out of work? As a "tech" business many if not most can work remotely.

It will be interesting to see what happens ...

@bess37-2007 What transactions did you leave the other 17 FB for this month? Going only by feedback you average 18 sales each month and had 23 this month.

When sales are slow it is a good time to reconsider what we are selling.

I started out selling books, but over the past five years, on this account I've moved to selling sewing patterns which are easier and cheaper to ship and sell better.

I still have several hundred books listed, but they are slower to sell than I like.

Still between dotCOM and dotCA my Premium Store allows me 2000 fixed price listings each month and I'm unlikely ever to need than many. If I did use them all, each would cost me three cents a month.

Those toilet paper auctions are going high, but I would strongly doubt they are getting any serious bidders.  Just thrill bidders placing nuclear bids they will never complete.

It would be interesting to see how many end up as Failed Transactions and the sellers owing huge FVF because they are too dumb to understand how to cancel an Unpaid.

And I can't WAIT until the first one comes to the boards after selling a thousand dollar pack of TP ....... that will be amusing.

Ebay will continue to do what they have always done to help sellers, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

I made the same suggestion about 3 days ago and have not heard a word from EBay about it. I believe that if they suspend store fees they will save hundreds of sellers who will stay with them if they don't hundreds may be forced to close or reduce their store size. They spend of a little of their profit now and make more later when they have saved us. Thank you and keep the great thinking and stay safe.

I made the same inquiry about 2 weeks ago and was informed by a blue that nothing short of sellers canceling sales using the buyer request option was being considered.  (It was not commented what to do if the buyer did not ask for the cancellation due to the virus.) I asked again last week about a price break of some type and was ignored.  I don't understand eBay's attitude toward this... it's poor PR to say the least.  Good luck to us all.

I hate to say it , but you'll never get any credit on fees from ebay. They seem to want the small seller to leave , so why would they do anything to help you hang on a little longer. It's hard to say what happened to this once great company, but they have an agenda that doesn't include you.

They seem to want the small seller to leave ,

so why do they give away 50 free listings a month to those who don't have a store?

To line their pockets more and hope the new sellers will open a store.

A lot of sellers have closed their stores and list the 50 free under multiple accounts so they don't have store fees to pay.

Re: PANDEMIC what will EBAY do? other companies are working with the people who make them possi

eBay does not have to, nor is required to make concessions for its sellers...selling on eBay is not a necessity of life...it's a choice!

Sellers who choose to sell on eBay and then make it their necessity, are doing so because they made that choice....

there are choices in life and those choices need to be adjusted and adapted to whatever situations occur along the way.

Adjust, adapt and keeping moving along...

Stay calm and carry on as best as you can!
