Over pricing Items.

Earlier I posted my thoughts on overpricing of items on EBAY. I failed to read the rules governing Naming.  I apologize for that. My post was promptly removed.  My only point is before you Buy an item, (Especially Guitars)  that has a fixed price, (no Bidding, or Best offer) Do yourself a favor. Research the item before you commit to buying it. Sometimes you'll be surprised at how much money you'll save. Sometimes you can save well over a thousand dollars, and get a lot more benefits then can be offered from an eBay seller.. Just because it's being sold on EBAY doesn't mean it's always a good deal. Maybe even most of the time it is, but not always. make your purchase experience a happy one, not a regretful one. Sometimes It just Buggs me bad! to see Overpricing. Makes me feel that somebody going to get taken advantage of. Sorry again for my previous post. Hopefully this time I won't get Canceled.

And some categories I think make it totally confusing for consumers (not just an eBay issue). For example, Manufactures Recommended Price, which in many cases is never paid.  Watches are routinely sold by authorized dealers at around 40-50% of their Manufactures Recommended Price. So, when you go to eBay you see a watch for sale for $500 that lists at $1,000 and it looks like a big discount and then you see that  $500 is what 90% of sellers sell for it get confusing ( always a couple of sellers at full list price 🙂 ).

I can see why buyers sometimes pay more. The poster who indicated high quality, customer service, good return policies, etc. is right. People might pay a bit more knowing that they will get CS or can return no hassle, no questions. 

Even if you search by lowest price first, you might see sponsored items that way above the lower prices.

Especially when dealing with non-necessities, any item is only worth what any one person is willing to pay at any given time.  You don't want to pay X amount of dollars for guitar.  That's fine, someone else may.   I won't pay more than $30-$40 for a pair of tennis shoes, but people break their necks and their credit cards trying to buy overpriced brand name tennis shoes priced in the hundreds if not thousands of dollars.   I think that's dumb. I will, however, willingly pay $300 or more for a good pair of boots to wear. A tennis shoe collector may think that's dumb.

I sell old paper that most people would chuck in the trash. Should I give it away instead because you think it has no perceived value?  Collectors think otherwise.

Rolex  tells the seller an authorized Rolex store  - usually a high end Jeweler store exactly the price  to sell each NEW watch and what their  GP will be l- not a dime less or a dime more.  If they do they  will loose their franchise.  That is call "hard ball".  My brother worked  a high end store for 30 + years.  There GP on other quality watches is no where near  40 -50%.  They make very nice  GP on diamonds, gold and custom  designed jewelry - won't  say the percent.  Their  precious stone are significantly higher than the mall stores - but they are all hand faceted in one area in Germany.  Mall stones are lazer  cut - difference in brilliance.
