Its been a few years since i sold things on eBay. My experience used to be overall positive. I recently listed an item on eBay and it sold, BUT, when recieving the pay-out. EBay charged me 20% in fees!
i know that you can read about this under the ”fees-section” but for me, selling before i didnt do that (jokes on me), and i got a shock when i recieved the payout. In Sweden (where im based) the only companies changing this type of fee are the big auctionhouses selling art etc. Other sites, selling things, such as eBay charge maximum 10 % and have this as a separate box to click and accept, displaying the calculates fee if selling before you post your listing. Im never ever using Ebay again. EBay got greedy and i wont ever recommend anyone to sell on their site. They are obviously (in my opinion) in the business of ripping people off, rather than enabeling people to buy/sell things second hand.

Don't know what you sold or what category it was in, but the highest FVF is 15% in a couple categories.
Are you including the shipping you paid?
Did you promote the listing?
Did you figure the % on the total amount the buyer paid?

(final value-fee, international fee and taxes) in total 20 %

Not sure when the last time you sold anything was you didn't provide a lot of detail on what the item was, what it sold for.............. EBay fees have not increased that much it's just that before Managed Payments (MP) the fee was split between eBay and PayPal.
Once eBay transitioned to MP they fees were combined into one. EBay does not charge 20% fees on any category unless you promote the item. Can you post a snapshot of the order details?

curious...is a tax an ebay fee?

I'm just as outraged as you.
I hate it when ebay charges hidden fees without telling us.

You are posting on a US community discussion forum. You are located in Sweden. There may be a difference in the fees that are accessed in other countries. Ours here in the US is 13.5% all in. If you choose to promote an item, that's going to cost you as well. You may want to ask your customer service in your country to better explain.
Good luck to you.

What taxes? If you are referring to the state sales tax, paid by the buyer to you and the eBay then remits those funds to the appropriate state, that is not part of the final value fee for the seller although, yes, the FVF is calculated mainly on these three figures: the item price paid to the seller by the buyer, the shipping cost (paid to the seller by the buyer) and the state sales tax, if applicable.
So, bearing that in mind, care to post a screen shot of the breakdown in fees of the transaction?

What prompted you to come here to post this?
Ebay does not require coming here to post your exit from ebay.
We all already know the fee structure.

So at an Auction House you have to lug your thingy to the Auction Site where 100, 500? people that can 'drive locally to'. , and then lug it home if not purchased (if using a reserve) or take a chance at that $500 thingy selling for $40?
Here, you can advertise your item to 100,000,000 by listing in your jammies at 3 in the morning and do nothing, go nowhere, spend no gas etc. and still pay the same?
So, what's the problem?

Sometimes Ebay makes more profit on my sales than I do.

In some countries, Ebay's fees are subject to VAT.
If they are in your country, that is a matter between you and the people who are elected to office.

"...rather than enabeling people to buy/sell things second hand."
eBay is not a charity or a community service.
