Outrageous New Shipping Charges and Rules

When ebay puts their new shipping charges and rules into effect, I believe that this will be the beginning of the end, both for Sellers, Buyers and ebay.  Whenever ebay has changed their formats and user fees over the years, I have put up with it because it still remained a great selling site.  However, this takes the cake.  Ebay will soon be known as a seller's site for TINY ITEMS because mailing fees are going to be out of sight.   What the hell are they thinking?

If you are talking about the new dimensional fees for all zones rate increase, that is a USPS thing.  Ebay didn't change this, they just haven't offered us any help in this department.

Are you talking about the new rates for USPS (United STates Postal Service) shipping? eBay doesn't set the USPS rates. The USPS does.

 More people may be returning to brick & mortar stores for their purchase of those larger non tiny items, due to the higher USPS rates.

First ... eBay does not set the USPS rates - the Post Office proposes them and Congress approves them. If you have an issue, call your representative and don't blame eBay.  

Second ... congratudlations! You are (unofficially) the 10,000th person to predict the demise of eBay on this board over the past two decades. If people keep predicting this for the next few decades, perhaps one of those predictions will eventually come true.

I think you are blaming something on Ebay that Ebay has NOTHING to do with.  Your complaint should be directed to USPS.

And the USPS changes will NOT only affect Ebay.  It will affect anyone, any company that uses USPS for shipping their items.  EVERYONE is affected.

What eBay should do is negotiate better pricing for ebay sellers. Since ebay benefits from the fees, they should pass on some of it to the buyers.

This is NOT something Ebay CAN negotiate.  USPS does NOT allow negotiations on all method of shipments.  They never have.

Why do you think every single provider of Online postage has the SAME rates for USPS First Class Parcel?  It is because Ebay doesn't allow negotiations for that method.  

You are assuming Ebay can do something that USPS doesn't allow.

Ebay and Amazon do negotiate with the post office.   They receive huge discounts compared to the rates that they give us small buyers.   They could pass on the savings to us but they are too greedy.

I have NEVER seen a lick of proof that Ebay negotiates lower rates than anyone else. Their prices are the same as other providers and in some cases lower.

Amazon negotiated a lower rate because they do a lot of the upfront work like sorting. It also allows the PO to keep some carriers on staff because of the increased shipping volume. Although from what I've read the PO is slowly losing shipping to Amazon itself. Just see how much shipping prices increase when that happens.

Not on all forms of methods.  What I said before is accurate.  Which is why you will not find one single online provider of USPS postage with less expensive FCP domestic than Ebay.  They are ALL the same.

FCP international is negotiable and Ebay has always done a pretty good job with negotiating that rate.  If Amazon does better, they never extend it to their customers.

Amazon can ONLY do that on stuff they sell themselves or is shipping out of FBA.  For regular sellers shipping their own products, those rates won't apply as they are shipping from various location.  No way for presorting or anything else.

I know this may sound old fashioned but I think the Koolaid reference is used way too flippantly. It refers to the mass murder of a bunch of people including children. I wouldn't compare using Ebay to mass murder but that's me.
