This "person" purchased something from me. In the process of it getting to them USPS busted the box open and some items went MIA.
No problem I thought. I paid for return shipping and issued a full refund once I received package back from the buyer.
My problem IS that even though this "person" got a refund they left me negative feedback. I requested a retraction from "her" but he refuses to change it. Wants me to jump through hoops and beg him then he will consider it.
F that. EBay should never allow something like this to happen in the 1st place. In their eyes the buyer/customer is always right. Well, that is an urban myth.
What can, should I do before I do something I may regret?

You already did it. Leaving a nasty follow-up does not reflect well on YOU.
A more professional response might be "Item damaged in shipping, buyer fully refunded."
Though the first one STINGS...the red donut no longer has any effect on your seller rating. It is sort of like being slapped with a wet noodle (think of those white ones in the Chicken Noodle Soup can). There are plenty of sellers that rack up hundreds of negs a month and they are still selling.
I totally understand how you are feeling. In the 20 years I sold here I had the red feedback bomb dropped on me a few times. Once it was TWICE for the exact same item number, eBay would not remove one of them.

This exact same thing happened to me.
My response to the negative, "I'm sorry that the USPS disappointed both you and I"
After the 3rd or 4th day the Neg fell off the front page never to be seen (By me) again.

@dannyboo225… What can, should I do before I do something I may regret?
You come to us after you leave that feedback?
My grandma always said, "Experience is something you get just after you need it." She's right again!
P.S. I sell ball caps here and my heart broke some when I looked at the listing. Are the little guys alright?

Oh dear.
And for the neutral too.

You have been here long enough to know that sellers are responsible for getting the items safely delivered in the condition promised. You didn't do that, assuming you were the one who packed the items. Damage is on the seller as far as eBay is concerned. So the neg will stand. Your buyer was within his rights to judge the packing job, and to hold you accountable for the quality of the transaction. A refund doesn't make up for the inconvenience and hassle you put your buyer through.
Then to make matters worse, you left an offensive, profane remark as if the buyer has failed you and not vice versa. A remark that violates the Member to Member Contact policy. Such poor behavior gives all sellers a black eye and the result can be that the buyer never returns to the platform.

A good buyer judges a seller not on the feedback they receive, but the feedback they leave. Bad buyers don't care. Always remember that.

I wouldn't sweat buying from someone with 400 positive and 1 neg feedback. I would feel more comfortable, however, if you would have just said "box damaged in transit, buyer refunded" rather than calling them a "b" and "mf".
Lordy. I'd still buy from you (because buyers face zero risk on ebay), but those comments....

Never "deal" with a buyer. Never retaliate. You should have just left it with "buyer received a full refund" and gone on your merry way.

EBay already removed 1 for me a month or so ago. Think they said that was my "complimentary" one.

The hope is that the seller learns from his error.

Well, don't expect them to be so 'complimentary' again.
