Hello! I'd like to make a listing for a matching skirt and top, where a buyer would be able to choose to buy the skirt, the top, or both together. Is this possible, what is this type of listing called, and could I get step-by-step instructions? Your help is greatly appreciated!

They are called Variation listings, info on how to create them on this page:

They are different item so they should have their own listings.
A variation listing is for the same item in different colors or sizes, not different items.

Thanks very much, Slippinjimmy! 🙏

Same brand and same pattern, I think they are fine for Variations especially if the price differential is reasonably small. Maybe not if one of them is a $100 dress and the other is a $10 pair of socks that are only similar by the brand.

Yes, the prices are close. I'll give it a try.

Do you have just one skirt and one top? If so, then the variations format won't work because if a member purchases either the top or the skirt, the variation for both combined will still be available. eBay doesn't have a way to automatically remove the "both" entry if one of the items sells separately.

But if that happens, I can just relist the remaining item, right?

Then just list them separately to begin with or list 1 skirt, 1 shirt on the variation...then if they choose to just buy the top then the skirt is still listed and if they decide to buy both it ends your listing.

So with the variations listing, they can buy both without me providing for that specific option?

Yes, they can put both in their cart separately but in just a few steps and order both.

Great! Will they know how to do that, though? How could I get my hands on the instructions?

I wouldn't list 2 different items in a variation listing for a number of reasons.
1. They're completely different items
2. Even if the same sizes, for a woman whose skirt fits doesn't necessarily even wear the same size top.
3. Unless the seller is close to tapping out her 250 free insertions, there's little reason to do a variation
4. Instead, I'd recommend a comment in each listing saying, "see my other listing for the matching skirt that goes with this top" and "see my other listing for the matching top that goes with this skirt."

Yep, they can add the skirt and top both to their cart and when they check out it will end your listing.

Got it - thanks!
