On-time shipping?

Let's say I have an item set for 1-day shipping:

* I get an order Monday morning.
* I print the label and drop it off Tuesday afternoon.

* The mail person picks it up Wednesday afternoon.

Is this order on-time or late?

To be on time, it would have to be scan on Tuesday by end of day

It's too late to get the protection of an acceptance scan within your 1 day handling time frame, but if it  arrives within the estimated delivery time frame or the buyer states it arrived on time on the feedback question you won't get a ding.

Depends when your scan happens.  It's ALL about the Acceptance scan.

Where are you "dropping off" that then needs to be "picked up"?

I'm mostly selling postcards.   I just drop them in a nearby mailbox.

Just for some additional clarity.

If I get an order at 11:30pm on a Monday, then that still has to be scanned by end of day Tuesday?

Or do orders that come in after work hours count as an order the next day, so a Wednesday scan would be fine?

Usually....a Monday order, depending on  your personal cut off time, should be mailed Tuesday.   That gives you sufficient time to mail.  Even easier if it's a post card.

What you want ultimately, is to show the buyer you care and you  care to get their order out quickly as possible.  Sometimes it just doesn't happen, but then I like to let the buyer know that it's packed and ready and will go out in the morning.  As long as they are happy....

@mrcurtain2   A Late shipping defect occurs when the Carrier Acceptance scan happens outside the Handling time window you have set.  If you stand in line and have the clerk scan your packages you leave with a receipt showing you got the scan in time ... if you drop off you have no control over when the scan will occur ...

Time zone comes into play also. I had an order come in at 11:23 P.M. Fri, that's 2:23 EST (Saturday), so 1 day shipping would be Monday.......I hope!

If you want the acceptance scan for late shipping protection and have 1 day handling, it has to be scanned on Tuesday.   Wednesday puts you into 2 day handling.

@statur_3257   Check your See all Orders page, it will show you the specific date and PDT time the transaction was recorded by eBay ...

You are using the (eBay Standard Envelope) for shipping your post cards.

Although they call it with tracking (the USPS is not involved in scanning

them or tracking them) so you will never get an acceptance scan from the

Post Office.

When you print the label it does have a barcode that when the envelope goes

through the USPS letter sorting machine at the sorting centers if it gets scanned

the information goes to a 3rd party company as tracking. Also if it goes out for

delivery to the buyer the mail carrier does not scan them at all as delivered.

Go here and scroll down till you get to the frequently asked questions section

and hit the expand all button and give them a good read.

Your shipping label is dated Tuesday, that's one day after Monday! What the mail carrier does with it we can't control! It's all good!
