Ive only recently started really selling alot on ebay and plan to continue to do so but I as many of others have a problem where less than 25% of our sales ever get feedback. I had an idea but not sure if its allowed and it wouldnt work for everyone.
I already include a little note in each of my packages that basically says "Thank you for the purchase. Any questions please contact me. Please leave feedback." or something along those terms. I was thinking of basically giving them an extra push to leave feedback by doing a drawing where you get an entry for each feedback left (whether its positive or negative). End of the month i look at all my sales for the month and enter everyone into a drawing for a small prize based on what they bought. (Bought a pokemon product get a pokemon product). Drawing to be done on the 10th of each month for the previous month to allow time for people to leave feedback that made a purchase late in the month.
I know most people think badly of our feedback system here. You cant leave bad feedback for buyers that refuse to pay and buyers are more likely to leave feedback when they have a bad experience then when they have a good one. I just figured with the small items i typically sell it wouldnt be to hard to offer my own incentive to leave feedback. Similar to those leave a review win a gift card/food things on most fast food receipts these days.
Anyway just my 2 cents. Thanks for reading.

No one cares about feedback. It was important when Ebay first started and trust was so important, but now with all the safeguards in place, like Ebay's guarantees and credit card assistance , not so much.
Most customers do not leave feedback and badgering them about it, might only loose you future customers.

My practice with the highest return feedback rate is to just automatically leave feedback for the buyer as soon as they pay.
This at least helps the buyers that won't leave feedback until they have received it. Anyone else... I'd say that promotions and such just won't encourage buyers to leave feedback. This implies they'll even read where you are describing your drawing. And if you are putting this in your description of each item, it's just one more thing to turn off a buyer. (I personally hate super long descriptions.)

I wasnt planning on even mentioning it in my description. but i guess i may just be reading into it to much and should just stick with a thank you note. Thank you for the reply.

This was very helpful. Thank you.

Pay attention to the 80/20 ratio of business. If you spend too much time thinking about feedback you will be wasting time. I give immediate feedback to all my paying customers and never look back to see if they reciprocate. I also have a random bonus item system that is never mentioned or advertised. It has nothing to do with feedback yet I am sure it doesn't hurt.
Source, list, sell & ship. Rinse and repeat!

Feedback IS VERY important to me although once a seller gets a few hundred, like you have, I just focus on their feedback left and how they respond to a negative. To be honest, I look more at the description. Sellers who do not describe the item (vintage items) and lecture me that the photos are basically the description, I run for the hills.
Perks for feedback, not my thing. You have enough feedback, just give good service, resolve concerns when they arise and provide good descriptions are the best policies in my opinion.
Good luck.

It may be a fact that less than 25% of our sales ever get feedback, but why do you consider this fact to be a "problem"?

It's only 'new' sellers who care about feedback.
*Yawn*

I don't think more feedback will help your business, but for those buyers that even bother looking, negative feedback can hurt. So doing anything to encourage buyers to give more feedback only increases your chances of receiving negatives. I wouldn't waste time on a gimmick that could easily end up biting you on the butt.

I have the same question. I came here to post it and suddenly saw your post. I always messaged to my customers about updtes of the shipping process till i enter tracking number. Rarely people say even hi. Sometimes the item was delivered but no response.

Forget notes (although I use business cards with a discount for a future purchase) and focus on doing the absolute best job you can. 297 feedback at 100% is worth more than 600 feedback at 97%. Make sure to be the best, and don't worry, it will come.

Ebay sends a message with the tracking number when you print your label. I see no need for other emails to buyers, which could just be annoying. What type of update do you send before they get the tracking number? I can't even imagine... I'm taping up your box right now.
