I got a promotion: Special offer: get 100 extra free fixed priced listings!
I let it sit because I REFUSE to use GTC. I'm only going to use Auction Style... and I've already started plans to start selling ELSEWHERE because I'm that angry they took away 30 day fixed price.
Then on the last day I noticed the subtext.
Special offer: get 100 extra free fixed priced listings!
Offer valid for fixed price listings with 30-day or Good Til Cancelled duration.
I thought... YAY, they listened to us, they brought back 30-day duration. I clicked Accept.
...and can't list 30-day duration. The software forced me into Good Til Cancelled.
Now I'm more angry than ever. They offered me something and pulled it away like Lucy holding a football for Charlie Brown, and I fell for it. I feel dirty just for having clicked "Accept" on the offer.
I'm not listing GTC though. I'd rather take all my merchandise and burn it, that's how angry I am at eBay.

Why should I have to cancel 29 days later? I miss the "ending soon" bump when I make most of my sales, and if I miss the deadline... and life DOES happen... I get slammed with fees. That's not a gift. That's a scam. Give me back my 30 day listings. That's what I USED to get promotional offers on... 30 day listings that are free of listing fees, EVER.

If you don't understand the outrage, then maybe you shouldn't reply. Maybe you should move on to the next posting. Those who DO understand the outrage should call eBay and complain about this damned GTC requirement.

Besides, the offer SAID it included 30-day listings. I was LIED to. I was offered something then it was pulled away.

If you as a seller make a mistake in a listing, you are pretty much held to the terms you listed. eBay should follow through on their own standards and give you the promo as offered. Double standards are irritating, but I am old and don't live in the real world.

And another thing... people keep saying, "Why not just put it on your calendar and cancel at day 29..."
Why should I WORK AROUND eBay's system, when EBAY should be creating a system that WORKS FOR SELLERS and not a system that sellers have to WORK AROUND because sellers have to try to avoid the fees they're sneaking up on us? WHY, WHY is it that EVERY TIME eBay announces a new policy, sellers have to CRINGE because we know whatever new thing they come up for is going to be BAD FOR US. WHY can't we look FORWARD to the new things they're coming out with because they're things that are going to HELP us make MORE money and sell MORE PRODUCT FASTER and with less effort? Wouldn't that be a win-win... wouldn't helping the sellers help eBay? Instead, they make us hate them more and more.

Why should I WORK AROUND eBay's system
Because you want free listings instead of paying for them?
Into your life it will creep

Because listing fees make no sense. It's not really a free listing:
We pay Final Value Fees, even on the shipping. EBay makes a boatload of money from me, and I do all the work. It's not as if listings are space in a store where they pay rent and it costs them money when I list. It doesn't. It makes them money when I sell.

And, no, you're wrong. I PASSED on the listings because I DON'T WANT supposedly "free listings" that require me to jump through hoops to prevent me from having fees tacked onto them. I'm done being eBay's circus performer. I'm done jumping through their hoops.
