Odd, out of the norm questions.....

..Just this year (2022, and ive been selling since 2003),  i have gotten three resent questions in my messages folder telling me they are interested in buying multiple postings of mine and what the shipping charges will be, or asking for more details than the thorough details already posted on an item, THEN, not responding back, after i provide answers. Some answers i cannot provide because i cannot "guess" exact package weight of multiple items. I do state i refund unused shipping fees paid. Still, is this just plain social rudeness or a "frustrating, anti-seller" against eBay scam (to burn me/others out on selling) ?

Did you happen to click on their feedback? Are they US members?

I think some 'other country' people, maybe even in US, believe if they post on this forum, or now send offers/messages to sellers, that they get these tremendous benefits.

I also resent the recent crop of ebayers who cant read or grasp what they are reading.

when an ebayer cant grasp a simple concept to do with shipping then I just ignore them.

50 percent of ebayers are just not as smart as the average bear.

those bottom 50 % are the reason for return abuse

And that is why I use "free shipping" as it eliminates those buyers who can't do simple math.  But what do you expect when our public schools are a sea of mediocrity.

Yes, they are members. They also have low purchase numbers w/a 100% feedback rating. Maybe it is 2022 social rudeness rearing its head. NOT how a business transaction should play out socially.

I "get" alla that. I do get some great responsible buyers who are perfect transactions, however, those bad examples burn into my memory, and spoil the selling experience. Then, when eBay is unsupportive, it really hurts (like not being able to leave negative feedback to a buyer who does not pay....)

are they telling you what they want to buy or is it a general .........I want 3 things, how much would shipping be?

Not sure why you would answer questions where the answer is already in the listing.  These people are quite often not interested in actually making a purchase.

"Some answers i cannot provide because i cannot "guess" exact package weight of multiple items."

I usually ask what specific items they want, find a big box, measure it, weigh, go to the USPS website and give them an estimate.  (Their location is in the question)   Nine times out of ten they buy.  Nine times out of ten the combined shipping discount only adds a few dollars.   I have immediate payment on my listings so I remove that for the listings in question and tell the buyer to wait for an invoice.  I don't mind working the extra ten minutes to have a bigger sale.   It's like killing 2-3 birds with one stone.  I'm here for money, no other reason.

You are talking out of 2 sides;

You EXPECT that all the transactions will be 'professional business' which is ridiculous in and of itself since you are dealing with any Mo that wants or thinks they want to buy something...

...but then you want to be able to leave 'negative feedback' to buyers which is proven to NOT BE retail smart.

After all, there is no posters of faces in the window of the nearest Walmart with a 'Bad Customer' statement written on it.

You don't EVER poo on customers, difficult as they may be. When YOU leave negs, it hurts MY sales- so I am glad eBay did away with that ability.

So, what you need to do is stop allowing anything to 'burn' into you as you are dealing with the general public which consists of Straight A students that are 100% honest on their taxes to F Students that just came off parole, and anything in between. Even more so on the 'internet' as you don't know who you are ever dealing with.

So, treat each transaction as a business transaction.

They bid and don't pay?

So what.

They don't know what they're doing. Move on to the ones that do.

That's not "odd" or "out of the norm" at all-- I get that question a lot when people want to buy multiple items. They want to know if you'll combine the shipping and what the total cost will be. For me, since most of my items are fairly lightweight, it often winds up costing the same amount to ship two as it would to ship one (i.e. I can ship three or four rubber keychains for the same cost as one because they weigh so little), meaning the buyer would actually save money if they buy more than one thing at a time.
