ONE sale in June

No - I don't expect eBay to sell my items.  I do expect them to have a quality site that attracts buyers.  I do expect them to do everything possible to make this a site where people want to join & become customers.  I expect my items to be showcased so active viewers will come take a gander.  I don't expect eBay just to look out for #1.  If I'm in a flea market, I expect them to promote the place so it attracts potential customers.  There is not much sense in having a booth in a building & look down to see 5 people in the aisles.  I'M supposed to attract the buyers?  Only way I can attract the buyers if they see what I have to sell & feel the value in my presentation / prices.  0-3 views over a month's time isn't going to get much business.  eBay just happy to take the store fees & not care if you make a sale?  I NEVER thought 2023 could be worse than 2022 but it certainly is.  Yes....yes.  I only have 36 listings. I had 4 sales when I was done to 15.  Quality not quantity should still make a difference.  An additional 300 listings of cheap items is supposed to be a plus?  Saving some of my better stuff for local sales & no fees.   🙂   Good luck to all.

Meanwhile, I had 9 sales on Marketplace since Monday.  On eBay?  9 in 10 weeks!

In the beginning  of eBay MY Weekly sell through rate was about 80%.

If I had  200 items listed that was my DAILY  income.

That's right...I could count on that for every listing I had going I was making that dollar amount....Every DAY!

My listed item count could hardly grow I was selling stuff so fast.

Fast as I could list it!

And somewhere it fell apart...

I have 900+ listing and made $100 last month!

And Now I'm Done!

@sakic92710

I think the answer to your question is "yes". Sales would be better, naturally...

With only 36 listings you have a store? I only ask because I gave mine up last Spring, since I've only got a couple hundred listings. I couldn't tell that my store was getting me any more business... does it you?

How do you sell on MP? I don't see how ANYONE sells there; local only- choose "shipped items" and nothing but garbage seems to be shown??

I looked at all:  it says from Canada on each.  I am from USA and have only bought 2x from Canada in 17 years and 1x from England. No one else worldwide had the items I sought and I watched the Canadian  listing for 2 years before I offered to buy.  My turnoff is it seems that postage from outside the USA is almost always much higher and slower than domestic, and there is  a currency conversion fee added on as well. I do not go there.

Ever been to the mall and see one store with a line out the door and another - right next to it - that doesn’t have one customer?  Would that be the landlord’s fault?

Hey Buddy!

I've been asked to be more empathetic with my responses.

I'm so sorry things have been bad for you on ebay.

But I'm happy that your marketplace sales are going well   😃

Hopefully things will pick up soon.

Sending love and best wishes from Hawaii.

My only regular buyer on FBM paid me the compliment that I have the best items listed.  Sometimes, I will get 600+ views while the same item can sit on eBay with 2.  lol  I ship from there often.  Actually, more people who buy have items mailed.  Locals are the ones who contact me & then go silent.

I feel your frustration. Honestly, your biggest problem is that you have negative feedback on your account. eBay has an insane threshold and make one mistake, they will shadow ban your account for weeks. Also, if you list more items, there is a chance for more sales but business is still slow due to many factors. Hope this helps.

@craft-stash ,

I’ve been selling mail order, online or at shows on and off for over 30 years.

When I first started it was setting at weekend shows which very busy because there was no internet. Since I got sick of driving to and spending many of my weekends at shows. I started doing mail order by advertising in hobby magazines and mailing out catalogs. Then my friend Dave who unfortunately is no longer with us told me about a new auction website called EBay and how well he was doing and that I should give it try. Remember back then very few dealers were selling on eBay.

I too was selling over 80% of everything I listed. Then over time as more and more dealers discovered eBay and how well sellers were doing the amount stuff listed by the just as fast growing number of sellers exploded. With all these new listings made it harder and harder for them to be seen. I believe beside inflation reducing the disposable income of many buyers, the exponential growth of sellers and listings has caused dropping sales for sellers who haven’t been able to adjust. Also, eBay has greatly reduced the barriers to becoming a dealer.

Sellers can’t compare how eBay was in the early days versus today. I remember the days when very few of the dealers that advertised in the hobby magazines I did were on eBay. Today, most of the hobby magazines have folded or are a skeleton of themselves because of the drop in advertisers. Today, almost all of the advertisers are selling here on eBay or another venue.
