OMG,, this is beyond belief.. trying to list,, there are no specifics.. !

I don't know how much more i can take.. I went to list some tops today,,,

started fresh,, created a new listing.

there are no predefined item specifics with drop downs..!!!!

only suggested specifics..( see pic)when i accept them,, it creates basically custom  defined specifics,.,. which we all know are not findable or searchable..omg,,there is no brand drop down, no size drop down,,nothing!

Trinton@ebay   who is freaking running this site>?? how can specifics and listing work flows change from day to day... omg.. it's just the height of incompetence..

@Anonymous

I know you gave me an email to send info to. however.. this is beyond just sending an email.. this is ridiculous.

how can we knowledgeable sellers get the person who makes actual decisions in the backend programming department to contact us and work specifically on these problems..    there is no way to "fix" what is going on.. every message to the programming department has the listing work flow more screwed up...

all of this OF COURSE.. affects search results and buyer satisfaction..or rather continues the exodus of viable buyers .  buyers will not tolerate having to figure the "new" correct way to search for items they are looking for.. there are too many other options out there.. buyers don't want the hassel..... especially when predictable, reliable. familar  search functions on other retail web sites do not have these constant problems!

@Anonymousif the issue was with just me, OK but it's not.  I have several friends that have stores and not one of them could list dresses (and other effected categories).  And every poster here has/had the same problem.

@Anonymous  hi trinton,, thank you for catching that I had posted a different issue than another thread you were helping with.   I just went to make a listing and the problem,, (at least for womens tops) seems to have been  resolved.

do you have any comments on the problem of  double and triple versions of the same specific being made available in the drop down...

.. and if a seller selects a certain one.. then they are not going to appear in the other two groups..

would it be possible to make available to sellers.. a multiple selection option on the style... in not only shoes. but also, all of the categories of clothing......  it appears to me that the programmers went overboard and made available so many options in specifics that it will inevitably end up working against sellers...    ebay trying enable buyers to whittle down and whittle down results  is going to have many sellers items left out of being shown.

yes, if a buyer clicks on the left side for specifics to show all.. they MAYBE will see that many of the options are duplicates with different spellings and they MAYBE will select them all.. but if a buyer just used the drop down.. they are going to choose the first one they see that applies  without knowing that there are 2 or 3 others in the drop down that mean the same thing...

does this make sense.

@Anonymous   trinton..  my concern with emailing the address you gave me.. i guess, i'm wondering if their first language is english?? because,, there are very specific terms that are used in programming, and sellers don't actually know all those terms.. however.. if the sdsupport team's first langauge is english, they would either recognize what we meant, or know how to follow up and ask questions.....  if  their first language is not english,  they may look for common words they recognize and assume they knew what we were saying..( as often happens when calling cs and reaching representatives in another country).....     also... I just thought of something.. you know how many cs reps. and employees of ebay actually sell on ebay also.. so it gives they first hand knowledge of many of the issues sellers deal with.....  do you happen to know if ebay requires any of the programmers in the sdsupport team to also have sold on ebay.. this would make a huge different. i believe.

Same issue.

I tried at many times but got error message which tells

"It looks like there's a problem with this listing.

  • The item specific Size Type is missing. Add Size Type to this listing, enter a valid value, and then try again.
  • Variation Specifics provided does not match with the variation specifics of the variations on the item.
  • Variations Specifics and Item Specifics entered for a Multi-SKU item should be different."

So, I added Size Type for the Item Specifics and filled in Women but got same error message.

I was trying "Sell Similar" and as other member says, No Specification Box.

I could not list anyway.

Hi @teenyteenyc  Just read your post here and wanted to give you a head's up. For the "size type", try adding in Regular, Plus, or Petite. I think those were the choices available  in the drop-down box. For certain "Regular" is one of the descriptors. Hope you were able to list finally!

Re: OMG,, this is beyond belief.. trying to list,, there are no specifics.. !

Here is what will happen.  We, the sellers, will make a lot of noise and we will receive vague answers that are copied and pasted from a CSR 'playbook'.    While we are posting here using our selling account, we do buy quite a bit of merchandise through our American account (this allows us to avoid using the over priced global shipping program and arrange shipping on our own terms).   As a buyer, particularly of used watches, I don't have time to sift though 38000 listings to find precisely what I am looking for.   If the seller is unable to provide useful item specifics that can be searched for  with consistent results, he or she will be unable to complete a transaction with me.   If I want a Bulova Accutron made in 1969 that is gold plated with a brown leather strap and silver dial, I don't want to spend hours on eBay looking at items that are simply item specified as 'watch' and/or 'bulova'.   It's just too vague and I don't have the time for it.   Further, English is not my first language (however I am proficient in its use.)  That said, if sellers are expected to use/create their own item specifics (as opposed to being able to select them from a pull down menu as they had before) this potentially discriminates against those sellers who might have difficulty spelling words like 'brown', 'silver' and 'gold plated'.  While item specifics are irrelevant to sellers and buyers of mass produced drop shipped garbage from China,  they are essential to buyers of antiquities, collectables and rare items.    I start to wonder, with this and other changes over the past year, if eBay is trying to compete with Aliexpress and Amazon in the lucrative 0.99 cents dropshipped junk market.    If so, they have already lost.

Some tops and dresses still do not work....most do.  I guess they are still working on it!  This has been one of the most annoying problem I've experienced here on eBay.  😞

Hi @lasantino, happy to hear this has cleared up on it's own. Definitely keep me posted if the problem returns. As for multiple item specifics that describe the same feature (ex. closed-toe, closed, closed toes), these item specifics are submitted by our sellers and thus may have some variation. We do not manually enter the countless item specifics that would be applicable to all of the items listed on eBay, but can correct errors submitted by our Community. We can review this for adjustments once you email sdsupport@eBay.com with examples.

That being said, the number of searches related to a specific item specific is displayed, so I can recommend you select the one with the most search results when there are multiple options that could apply. As you have mentioned, there are some item specifics more prominently displayed than others and researching the experience that your buyer has when looking for items is an important part of creating a listing. Again, we can review to consolidate the unnecessary duplicate options created by members of our Community, and in the meantime these recommendations are your best next steps.

Hi @lasantino, if you would like this issue reviewed, you need to email the address I have provided. An email from a member registered on eBay.com will be routed to the appropriate team that can address that concern. I cannot stress this enough - please email the team I have provided contact information for. There is no reason to continue to discuss concerns about emailing this team, as it is the only option available. You will need to email the details discussed here to the appropriate team, and they will review those concerns for appropriate action.

Item specifics are not working again today at 1:25PM CDT.  Another wasted day set aside to upload more items and unable to.
