Just got this in messages just a bit:
Hello firesteel_surplus,
You have an outstanding amount owed for eBay fees. Because you owe eBay, you won't be able to list new items on eBay. To resolve this issue and continue selling, you need to pay the amount you owe immediately.
Please log into your eBay account to make a one-time payment and bring your account up-to-date.
Also, keep in mind that if you don't pay this outstanding amount owed, your account may be subject to account suspension.
If you've already paid your eBay fees, please disregard this message.
Thanks,
eBay
My "outstanding fees" that I'm in the red over? Just under $38. I'm usually running sales of around $1000(ish) a month or so. Really eBay?
You just need to trust me when I say I think eBay might be doing me a favor restricting my account. Might take care of some headaches and anxieties.
But just for giggles...where do I go to pay this since eBay won't let us keep money in our account just for these shortages.
First time this has happened.

IMHO, it's the billing change-over. Connecting the dots has never been a strong point with this site and they probably missed something and generated these auto-duns.
Good thought.........the change from 1st and 15th store billing to all on the lst probably is screwing up some things.......
So, I can't remember when the change happens.......I confidently go to Announcements.....surely it's there.......NOPE
just because you've listened me for yrs gripe (censored verb) about putting information where we can find it................. you go look it up............
Hi @dhbookds - definitely understand the frustration! There was no Announcement made in the Community about the billing changeover. My understanding is that it was sent as an email notification instead (I got mind on my personal account on Wednesday of last week in eBay Messages).

@dhbookds- The changeover begins with billing on March 1st, so it's probably not the issue at play here. Only affected sellers (currently billed on the 15th) were notified about the change.

Not sure if the date is the same for all, but this was the message that I received.
not sure if it has anything to do with "billing"
IMPORTANT: Beginning May 01, 2022, eBay will generate your monthly financial statements on the 1st of the month. You’ll receive a final mid-month financial statement covering the 16 days transitional period extending Mar 16, 2022 to Mar 31, 2022 on Apr 01, 2022. Moving forward, all financial statements will cover activity from the 1st day of the calendar month to the end of the calendar month.

eBay changed the help page. It initially said:
Beginning 1 March, 2022
It has since been changed to:
Beginning May 1, 2022

Thanks to everyone on where the "announcement came from"
I say AGAIN...........here ought to be ONE place where we could go to see upcoming changes...........they can put all the sneaker/weather, etc that doesn't affect everyone in Seller Announcements.......why not this? Because there IS going to be an uproar on it.........

I guess I thought that's what those were for...back up in case a primary failed?
In any case, I got my credit card updated and I got my -$35.77 PAID IN FULL. I'm guessing the issue was the credit card getting declined somewhere in the pipeline and caused a bottleneck in my account.
I agree that this isn't adding up. eBay should have gone to one of your backup payment methods.
eBay is now suspending accounts because their credit card is expired- even though they have other backup payment methods on file? The logical course of action would be to charge the backup then send the seller a message letting them know their primary choice needs to be updated. I don't understand issuing an account restriction over this.
That was kinda my "no sh!t" thought too....
And the thing is, the email was pretty clear that I owed ebay money $35.77. I can understand why they would suspend my account over $35.77 </sarcasm off> It was the REASON why I ended up owing $35.77 that wasn't clear until *I* started digging and found the expired credit card.
But why it didn't revert to a backup? Who knows?
Every other site I use that has my credit card on file (not that many....) sends me a reminder a few months in advance that reminds me of my credit card expiring.
Anyway...glad my account is alive and well.

Go figure. The system worked.

I figured it would, it's just so odd, like there is no coordination between various components of their billing system.
You optimism @chapeau-noir definitely overruled my pessimism on this one.
BTW...always been meaning to ask....how did you come up with your ebay user ID? Is it related to a novel or movie?

@firesteel_surplus My main line here used to be vintage hat restoration and sales, and goth/cyberwear. So "hat" and "black" seemed to work. Noir Chapeau was taken, though.

Then noir means hat and Chapeau means black. Is that French?

It's Noir = Black and Chapeau = Hat - kind of "The hat that is black" thing (French). Black Hat in English has too many various connotations (bad hackers and the like).
