Not recognized case

On march 9th of 2022 a buyer purchased an 3499 Cartier love bracelet, then the next day asked to cancel the transaction. As I was figuring out how to cancel the transaction, I received an email from eBay. The buyer had filed a not recognized charge with his financial institution. The minute I received the email  I accepted and Called eBay to confirm that I agreed to issue a refund and cancel the transaction. However a week later I received an email from eBay. eBay had decided to challenge the dispute and the case was decided in my favor. I Called eBay to please issue a refund and close the case , because during those days the buyer was harassing me day and night, asking to cancel the transaction. It wouldn’t be right to keep the funds and the merchandise. I was reassured that this time eBay was going to issue a refund and the case was going to be closed and there was nothing to worry about, but that didn’t happen. eBay instead of issuing a refund,  sent the funds to my bank account. As soon I realized that, I Called eBay again and asked them to issue a refund and close the case. Again they apologized and promised   to issue the refund. Then on march 25th the buyer reopened a item not received case. Again I called eBay and asked to cancel the transaction and issue the refund to the buyer. I told eBay that I was not going to ship the item because it would not be right to ship an item that a seller does not want. Again ebay agreed to issue a refund and cancel the transaction. Mean while there was a red flagged message from eBay, your shipment is overdue ship the item. I tried canceling the transaction and issue a refund, that option wast available, the only option I had was to ship the item.  I waited till April 5th before in printed the shipping label. During that time the funds were still in my account. eBay did not issue the refund to the buyer,  I was tired of calling eBay    Even though I had printed the shipping label I did not ship the item out till April 19th  I waited a month and 9 days before I shipped the item . Also before I took the  package to the post office I emailed the buyer if he had received his refund. The buyer responded it says I paid for it. When I printed the shipping label the dispute was automatically closed. And the merchandise was successfully delivered to the buyer. On June 26 four months later ebay sent me an email stating that I owed eBay 3177 dollars because the buyer had received this refund. A month or so later the buyer listed my bracelet on his eBay account and sold my bracelet for  a fraction of the price. And eBay is aware of this. The buyer posted a picture along with the listing we here it show that he had paid 3770 for the bracelet from me. There is even a positive feedback left from the new buyer. eBay refuses to reach out to the buyer and heal me to retrieve my merchandise. eBay isn’t willing to help at all. The new eBay managed  payment has created this entire issue. I never had this issue before when pay pal used to process the transactions. In the event of dispute the funds were held till the problem was solved. I have been selling on eBay for 11 years and never ever had an issue similar to this one. I called eBay and spoke with multiple supervisors and none of them are willing to help. I would be fine getting my merchandise back, but I can’t loose the merchandise and the funds. eBay has refused to take accountability for the problem that they created. If I as  a seller  accepted to cancel a transaction eBay had no business in challenging the dispute furthermore transferring the funds to my bank account creating a confusion.

This case was very simple. The buyer opened a dispute, the seller accepted the dispute and eBay should have issued a refund instead of challenging the case and transferring the funds to my bank.  Here is the prof that I accepted to issue a refund

if real: eBay owes you the money paid for this.

Do understand they may have started out going after the Buyer even with what you claimed; due to past record of such.

Also remember eBay and their payment system are two different groups. The do not work so well as one...

Re: Not recognized case

Reminds me of when I'd ordered a surround sound thing from BestBuy, I cancelled the order within mere minutes upon finding the same thing online elsewhere for $150 cheaper.  Call BestBuy to confirm cancellation, yep, cancelled but nope never refunded.  I'm told take three working days, wait, no refund.  Call them again, yep, cancelled, nope, not refunded.  Told they'd do it, never done.  I go to the local store talk to manager, forwards me unto regional manager as I was to "pick up" the unit at the store, not have it shipped per se.  Regional manager, same thing, he'll make sure it's refunded... Never refunded.  Few weeks later item appears on my doorstep shipped to me!

No record of any shipment to me via my online BestBuy account yet there it is... By this time the other I'd bought already arrived.  So I take it along with the shipping carton to the local BestBuy only to be told they can't refund it even though the unit was still sealed, still in its shipping carton.  Talk to the manager who tells me that it was shipped to me so the store can't refund it and it need be sent back to point of origin.  I asked they do it, they refused said I have to do so via my online account at BestBuy.  I show them on my phone there is no place to do that as I ordered it originally for "pick up."

I given a phone number to corporate take care of it... OH MY GOSH.  I get told there that "It should have never been shipped to me as the order was for store pickup..."  Uh duh, huh duh?  No kidding, I already explained all that...  So I get told someone at the point of origin web sales operation would be calling me, get it taken care of.  Guess what? No call.  So, knowing what I know getting as the time investment I'd experienced in trying get it taken care of had I been paid $15 an hour was more than I paid for the merchandise right?  I issue a dispute on the charge w/ my bank and they find in favor of BestBuy whom supplied them with the tracking number for the shipment which I'd no access to other than what was on the shipping carton when it arrived.   I tried explain all this to the bank whom in their "wisdom" told me, "Why not just resell it."  Can you believe it?

Well, it was near right after that I was at Walmart, we were looking at TV's as was another party and we began talking.  His wife mentioned Best Buy and I let forth the flood of my experience there, turns out she's an attorney and tell's me file with The State Attorney General.  Boy howdy, I never saw a retailer skip rope so fast in my life!  I got calls from the regional manager, store manager, warehouse manager where it'd shipped from and was ushered to the local store where I was paid back in cash.  My goodness it was like I was royalty ushered to the local store office that seldom a customer ever see whilst Mr. Manager Man offered me coffee and such.  Just to be a "concerned citizen" I decided to say I wanted the entire order wiped off record online.  His face turned gray as a stormy sky saying he didn't have the ability to do that.  I told him I'd spent like 30+ hours with various entities at BestBuy trying to resolve what should have been simple to resolve right?  I asked him what 30+ hours of pay he receives and that my time has value as well.

I took the refunded cash, left the unit with him at the store and told him I will not inform the State Attorney General of resolution until the matter is solved to my satisfaction.  Yep, The State AG contacted me perhaps a week or so later about the matter and I expressed my frustration with BestBuy as well as my time investment thereof in trying to solve the matter.  Guess what?  Within a matter of a week my phone was ringing again, this time the online warehouse told me they'd issued a credit to my card!  UNBELIEVABLE.

So... I explain to that person I'd already been refunded and wanted the order completely erased and there was the "Ah ha!" moment.  Apparently BestBuy at least at the time like had some other web entity that basically ran their online ecommerce operation!  Nice huh?  I get told to just keep the merchandise with BestBuy's apologies, I of course left it with the local store manager and get told that's not how these things get handled.  REALLY!?!?!?!  Wow!  I mean hey, could have fooled me right?

So being a good creature I take the money out the bank to bring it over to BestBuy, I see the manager once again, tell him all I was told by this other fella and he's like, "Ah duh? Huh duh?" having NO CLUE WHATSOEVER of how the online operation operates!  Instead he tells me that he was told to take care of it and take care of it he did only for me to reply, "Obviously you did not take care of properly or I'd not be here right now and oh, by the way, what happened to the unit I returned?"

The joust was getting ridiculous, seriously ridiculous.  He tells me they entered it back into inventory and that's when my lady pipes up, "Well, why don't we buy it with the cash and give it away as a present for her brothers birthday..."

Oh my gosh the look on the managers face was just PRICELESS, I DO MEAN PRICELESS.

No, I didn't go that route nor would the store accept the cash back so instead I ended up getting my lady a new phone and not at BestBuy per se.  YES!!!!! Finally the record was deprecated from my online account and case closed.  Icing on the cake is months after it was all finally settled what happens?  I mean like 5 months later?  I get a call from BestBuy corporate asking *ME* if it'd been resolved!!!!

Now the irony of the entire matter is that most everyone considers Government never having the left hand knowing what the right is doing per se yet here said Government displayed the same of Best Buy.  It reminded me so much of the movie "Aliens" where the woman "Ridley" went in to try and get information from "Mother" the computer that was overseer of the spaceship only to find the entire crew was expendable.

Not so long ago... a higher dollar sale could have been escalated to an upper tier Mgr on the phone.

WHAT are sellers PAYING FOR if a situation like THIS can't get a REAL PERSON to Review & fix.

I agree with you, I accepted the dispute the minute I received the email from eBay. Then I called eBay to make that they this was handled correctly. I explained the situation. And asked to issue a refund and cancel the transaction, instead ebay defended to challenge the dispute.

If you had canceled it via buyer requested, ebay would not have gotten involved or if they had it would have still been a non issue.

Exactly how did you cancel the transaction?

I’m pretty sure at this point you have lost 3k

Re: Not recognized case

Regardless, you never should have shipped this item no matter what ebay was saying to do when you knew the buyer did not want it. Ebay needed to figure out how to refund the buyer.

even if I ended up with a ding on my metrics I would not have shipped it. The buyer did not want it!

If it were me, I would try and get some help from the ebay business page on Facebook.

Re: Not recognized case

I was figuring out how to cancel the order when I received an email from eBay. The buyer had filed a dispute through his credit company. I accepted immediately the request and called eBay. I told eBay that it was with canceling the order issuing a refund. The solution was easy it didn’t have to be complicated. eBay made it complicated. eBay had no business in challenging the dispute I didn’t ask eBay to do so. I avoid having issues with buyer, regardless how right or how accurate is your listing is, eBay always Sides with the buyer.

Re: Not recognized case

I only read the first part.

If you had just cancelled the transaction like you were asked to do, you would have avoided all this.

Re: Not recognized case

I have been selling on eBay for well over 11 years, whenever there was an open case the funds were held until a resolution was reached.  At least that was the case when pay pal  used to process the transactions. After I agreed to cancel the transaction ebay challenged the case defended in my favor. I called again and asked to cancel the transaction and issue a refund. Every time I called eBay support team I got the same response. We are sorry this should not have have happened we are going to cancel the transaction, but in the other hand ebay was doing the exact opposite. eBay transferred the funds to my account. And didn’t reverse the transaction or pull the funds for nearly four months. eBay failed to handle this issue. eBay claims now that eBay had no power to issue I refund, but why wasn’t I told that during those multiple calls I made. Or why eBay didn’t tell me this case was filed by a financial institution and it will take time. Don’t worry about the funds that were transferred to your account, I would not have shipped the item.

Re: Not recognized case

I did agree to cancel the order, not only that, after accepting the request I called eBay to confirm it. eBay decided to challenge the case because every tought I had a good chance to win it. You can see in the highlighted case details that I had accepted the dispute and issue a refund.

Bottom line. Doesn’t matter what ebay was doing. Buyer did not want the item. You should not have shipped.

if you lost the chargeback case ebay will ding you another $20 as well.

I hope it ends well for you.
