Post the tracking info to try and receive meaningful assistance (redact the actual tracking number).

this is fairly common, if they just sent a message reassure them that if it does not show up they will be refunded.
If they actually opened a item not received case you will have to refund the buyer by the respond by deadline if the item is not delivered by then.
If you purchased the shipping label through ebay, it has a on time carrier scan and the buyer opens a item not received case, you refund and the item is later delivered ebay will reimburse you. If it is never delivered you can file a insurance claim.
The way I do it now is I refund ASAP on a INR case because the item will likely be delivered at some point and it turns a buyer unhappy that it took a month for their item to get delivered into a happy buyer that just got their widget free and if the item got damaged in the USPS grand tour it does not matter because you already refunded it.
The main thing is do not let the deadline pass without refunding if it is not delivered. Responding by posting a not delivered tracking number is a meaningless response and is a waste of time.

Did you do a track/trace through the carrier?

@eltnic-0 I see you are in the UK.
You have posted on the US .com boards.
Policies here may be different than the UK site.
In the US - I would track the item and let the buyer know I was looking into the issue.
1st If it was shipped USPS I would file a Missing Mail report.
Usually that get item moving.
You may get better answers for the UK on the UK site.
