What was the original price vs. the 'offer' price?
All 'stores' have a 'statement' on their printed advertisements that they do NOT have to honor printed errors (and they never state who did the error)

Sorry it happened, reason seller said that was to get out of eBay fees and laying the blame on buyer. Definitely report the seller to eBay and indicate that you did not request this.
Sometimes sellers decide to back out on a transaction if they feel the price is too low for them, or they have a best offer on another site.
Good luck and don't let this discourage you.

Sorry you missed out on the deal of a lifetime. The seller may have made a mistake making the offer. All you can do is go to your purchase page and I believe there is a link to report seller. In the comments let Ebay know you did not cancel the transaction.

Definitely report the seller for selecting a false reason for cancelling the transaction.
Here's a link you can use. Just scroll down and click on the button that's labeled "Report a seller."

I think the OP's objection was that the seller cancelled the transaction based on "buyer requested cancellation" when the OP apparently did not make any such request.

I've made such errors in sending offers... I always honoured the sale.
FWIW, the seller might have put in the right price and it didn't record properly. There is an ebay glitch by where you put in $35.00 and the offer sent is $3.00. eBay will show you what's being sent out, but sometimes this is missed if you are like me and send 50 offers a day.
Do report the seller for lying about the reason for cancelling. He did this to get out of fees, get out of bad feedback, and get out of a black mark on his selling account.

Very Recently EBAY had a glitch. Sellers were sending offers of $20.00 and eBay was transmitting the offer as $2.00. IT WAS WIDESPREAD. It was an admitted computer error by eBay. But don't tell that to the rah rahs. I had this happen to me twice. Contacted the buyers, explained there must be a glitch and they agreed to cancel. They were not jerks. Contacted eBay about the glitch. They made me jump through a bunch of hoops, restarts, emptying cookies, etc. before they admitted it was EBAY'S problem, nothing I could do, wait for it to be fixed before sending any more offers.

eBay has no power to force a seller to ship an item. That is the nature of being a venue and not a retailer.
eBay also lacks the ability to force the seller to pick the correct reason for a cancellation.

I would just move on with your life.
Seller probably typo'd the offer, meant to send 5 percent off, sent $5. Or something like that. Error could have possibly cost them a small fortune and ebay penalizes cancelling for out of stock so heavily that they picked something else.
I have accidentally sent out insanely low offers in the past when just sending one, but I always noticed it and ended the item seconds later to prevent it from being purchased.

I would let it go. The seller probably was in a jam. The price was wrong, whoever's fault it was. If they cancelled for another reason, they would get dinged by eBay and sometimes their selling costs get increased by 5%, which is huge. I also had an offer made to a buyer that was way below any I would have made. I just took the lost, I didn't know what else to do.

At this point I'd message the seller, much as we love getting messages from buyers these days (they're generally bad news) and ask if eBay glitched again. If they don't respond, act accordingly. If they admit to a big mistake or eBay's programming errors struck again I'd let it go. Sellers these days have enough problems.
