Not As Described return, claiming not authentic. I have proof, yet still not enough.

Hello Sellers!

 

I recently got a return request from a buyer saying "In my opinion, this is not authentic". I assured the buyer that it was and but decided to contact the manufacturer for additional verification. The manufacturerer received the photographs and stated that it (a handbag) was 100% Authetic. I sent that email chain to ebay and they still ruled in the buyers favor. Apparently they require more proof? I guess i don't understand how the people that made the product stating that they indeed made it is not enough proof. Has anyone had this happen to them before? Should this be enough proof to rule this in my favor?

For your next step - it maybe that your seller spent to much and needs an easy way out of this purchase - to say it is not genuine is the EASY way - then YOU pay for the return shipping - and you better hope they do not send back a bag of rocks or a different purse when you refund. Not trying to be upsetting - playing the devil's advocate - no matter HOW much you try to PROVE your case....it may not change the outcome - which is........your buyer wants out.

It's not eBay that needs the "proof" it's the buyer!

 

Looks like you accept returns so the very most eBay could do for you would be to require the buyer to pay return shipping. Now you have an unresolved by seller mega defect, you don't want too many of those.

If you accept returns, you accept returns for any reason.

 

A SNAD overrides a no returns policy anyway.

Bottom line, sounds like your buyer wants their money back.  Now, whether it is legit or they want their money AND the purse, is a whole separate matter because, on ebay, 'NO RETURNS' does NOT mean 'NO REFUNDS'.

ebay wants happy buyers - whether they are scammers or not.  You can get your item back or let the buyer keep it, depending on the type of case, whether you WANT it back or not and depending on how you handle the case.  Nothing on ebay is easy and everything needs a full understanding of the details.

There are experienced folks here that can give you the fine points of returns and fill you in on all of the ins and outs of coping.

I once sold a $700 custom paintball gun that was my baby when i was in the sport. Worked flawless and ran on compressed air. Buyer either dropped it or ran CO2 and the moisture fryed the circuit boards, returned to me cause "it didnt work". Ebay still ruled in his favor even though I had 100% seller feedback on high end items. Ebay works for the buyers even though were their revenue makers. Makes you mad but thats just something you have to relize using them. But sad story short, just process your return and resale with photos of certificate of authenticity from the manufacter. Ask them to email one to you if they didnt already. Just picture 150 people in india side by side on phnes and computers, this is who is making the ruling decisions, they really dont care.

E ail can be faked. Honestly this is the first I’ve ever read where a manufacturer will validate based on pictures. You’re bigger problem is that eBay will have you on watch for potentially selling counterfeit bags.

I see you did post on fashion. You may want to have your other bags authenticated if you haven’t already. Sadly you will be on EBay’s radar even though you don’t deserve to be.

Ebay cannot authenticate the authenticator.   Photos and emails are not proof such as the actual receipt for purchase (which can be dummied up too).   Buyer's remorse if they find something they like better.  Heck I was in big box store day after Black Friday and the return line was huge.

an email chain proves nothing as it can be faked so easily.You need a receipt from recognized retailer or a certificate of authenticity from ebay recognized expert on letterhead

you 100% fb does not prove item worked when buyer received it nor that buyer damaged it.ebay is adjudicating a he said/she said dispute and err towards buyer to retain them

I think the buyer already has a fake bag and that's what you'll be getting back with eBay as the enforcer.

According to the peeps on the fashion board the manufacturer is not counterfeited so a fake similar bag will not be coming back.
