So don't use the promo.
There are lots of sellers who do great starting auctions at 99 cents. Lots more don't. I am going to assume that the average seller will use their head and only take advantage of the promo if 99 cent auctions work for them. They sure don't work for me lol

99 cent auctions work for very few, and even those it does work for sometimes it doesn't and they end up with zero profit.
I feel badly for those new sellers who get those messages and have no idea they could end up with 99 cent ending auction, ebay and paypal fees, and a total waste of their time.

Me, too. 50% off final value fee?
Based on a $1.00 sale, the fvf would be 10 cents (@10%)....so you save a nickle. It is likely ebay is not going to award any discount on the shipping charges portion of the final value fee.
Of course PayPal is going to take the 2.9% + .30 for the whole price.

Years ago you could list items for 99 cents and they would get bid up to the market value. This still works with a rare few categories and items. For many categories and items though, you risk selling your $100 item for 99 cents.
