I have been selling items for over 8 years now, mostly different sites. In the past 1 to 4 weeks my sales have dwindled to zero a week. This has never happened before. I talk to other Facebook Marketplace sellers, and they too, have experienced a drastic decline in sales. Is there something that happened that I am not aware of that buyers are not buying?

Hello again. It was recently suggested that I update my listings daily. Even if I don't change anything. It seems to have helped. It has a similar effect as eBay "Refreshing" your account. It depends on who you get on the phone as to whether or not they "Can" do that.

I don't disagree these things can be an issue, but I don't understand why it is the "Accepted Solution". No offense to you. But who decides this? eBay? According to a couple different reps it is an eBay issue they are "Fixing". Not those things. Although I'm sure they factor in.

It’s so bizarre! In 10 years I have never had a week of zero sales and this week has been zilch nada! I called eBay and they say it’s not them - it’s me! 🤷🏼♀️. I don’t believe it! I normally have a sale a day. Snd over the past week to 10 days absolutely nothing! Extremely frustrating!!!!! Don’t know what to do!

My paypal is set up so that if i buy something,
the funds come from my debit card that is linked to my ebay bank account.
No transferring of funds necessary.

I've been making more money on Amazon and Facebook marketplace than eBay personally. Really like the fact Facebook has no fees.

That sounds great. Maybe that might push me to finally cave on getting a FB account. Nah. But with AMZN, do you have to send them all your inventory? I thought I read that before. Hope to hear your answer!
Thanks!

just read an article about walmart having inflation problems too. People are not buying new clothes but keeping their money for food and other essential items. So they are getting and selling less clothes but the kicker for them is that was the most profitable items for them, clothing.

You know, I've been just SEARCHING for answers to why my sales have dropped LITERALLY 80%. I bet you are right. It must have just taken a few months to kick in. I used to RARELY go a day without al LEAST 1 sale. Usually, I'd have 15-20 a week. 50 a week for a while. The last... maybe 9 months, I'm lucky to get 3 sales a week, everything else being equal. I used to call and have them "Reset" my account. which would IMMEDIATELY start my sales up again. Now they won't do it anymore. They said 4 months ago, that it WAS just a glitch in the Managed Pay system that would be fixed in a couple weeks. NOPE.
Thanks!

Inflation is getting to a point comparable to times before I was alive, and that's many decades. THEY say 4th of July is going to kick it in full blown. Blast. Whatever. So, not good.
Thanks,

Hello,
I used to call and have them "Reset" my account. This would IMMEDIATELY start my sales up again. Then in a week or 2, back to ZIP. Now they won't do it anymore. (You should try though) They said 4 months ago, that it WAS just a glitch in the Managed Pay system that would be fixed in a couple weeks. NOPE.

I am frustrated also. I have almost 9k items in my inventory, churn 400 a day (end the oldest, resell them as similar items), add new items each day (auction and fixed), expose the listings that have watchers to Facebook and Twitter (adding hashtags to key words) - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTHING for about a week now - I used to have a good steady stream of sales, then NOTHING. I know everyone is having a hard time but I still wonder if something isn't happening behind the scenes at EBay. I mean, what does "restart" mean - and then you suddenly see sales? Why can't this happen all the time? I would benefit and they would sure benefit with the fees. I don't know. Super depressed about it. 😞

Hi,
Did you mean "Reset?" Just wanna make sure you are talking to me. Otherwise I have questions for you! But many months ago I called and explained my issue to one of the few great reps. He just said, "Let me just go ahead and "Reset" your account. GREAT! and Boom, bangin out sales again like crazy. After a couple weeks it wore off so I called back. Same thing. Then they started telling me "We don't do that anymore".
But don't worry, it's gonna be fixed, lets see... 3 months ago. SMH. I'm lost. It really really sucks

I have been selling on eBay, Mercari and FB Marketplace for over 3 years now and sales on all of them have dropped to nearly none. I just wanted to know if I was the only one or have others also experienced similar issues. I have started a Reddit account (1) ResellersUnited (reddit.com), because we need to unite and get some representation. Untied is the only way for me to get that started or have pointed out to me an association already exist. Because new bills that were introduce specifically target resellers and the amount of taxes we pay. Also, would literally put us out of business. That was introduced on Mercari's forum, but the Resellers Association they mentioned is difficult to locate on or offline.
Last 2 years I have made over $4,000 a month average. This year, only $600 average. And noticed people saying the same thing. I believe it has a lot, not all, to do with this new Promote Your products scheme, where people pay a little more to get recognized and those who do not get their listing to the bottom of the list.

resellers and the amount of taxes we pay.
Any income from selling has been required to be reported on our income tax.
The change has been that the IRS now asks online venues to report sales when the seller grosses $600.
The seller doesn't pay tax on that $600 though, because fees, postage, packaging, insurance, procurement cost, etc. are all deductible.
It is noticeable that many online sellers have just learned that what they thought was a money making business has been a money losing hobby for years.
Last 2 years I have made over $4,000 a month average. This year, only $600 average.
Were you reporting that $48,000 a year to the IRS? You will be reporting the $7200 you have made so far this year plus what you take in for the rest of the year.
Less, of course, deductions.
