I have been selling items for over 8 years now, mostly different sites. In the past 1 to 4 weeks my sales have dwindled to zero a week. This has never happened before. I talk to other Facebook Marketplace sellers, and they too, have experienced a drastic decline in sales. Is there something that happened that I am not aware of that buyers are not buying?

Inflation
Covid
Income tax time
People not working because of Covid
People are buying things they need and not want.

35% of the population under winter weather having major issues
Stock Market dropping
Record Inflation, prices going up on everything
Wages not keeping up with Inflation
Many still out of work (businesses closed due to CV19 and many did not come back)

One more issue might be;
All of us sellers are not giving buyers our merchandise "At Their" offers anymore
In the past, many buyers became accustomed to sellers giving in to low prices just to make sales
Now adays sellers have become fed up with low offers and maintaining their original selling price
Basically buyers turn away when they do not get an item "at their" price (with FREE shipping) of course
Which has gone on too long, being one of the many reasons old long term sellers have left, along with policies always in favor of the buyer that works against sellers
Old saying goes ,you can give away free ice cream; But when you charge a dime for it nobody wants it
As well the other remarks about inflation, covid, etc. are applicable and hold true to the minute

I've always seen ebay as a place where many buyers are sellers — since Managed Payments began there's no no funds on Paypal right away and as such people don't buy on impulse any more. And since you have to transfer money now... they don't buy at all.

Well, it finally happened. After nineteen years selling with zero negative
feedback and only one neutral feedback, I have not sold enough to
pay for my eBay store. February 2022 I pay eBay for the privilege of
selling and owning a store that operates in the RED.

This month of February has been my largest month in sales since I started selling on eBay back in 2002.
I feel very blessed, but things just died and not a single sale since Friday.
You just never know why sales are up and then sales are down. It's just the nature of the beast in my category anyways.
Here's hoping things start to pick up for everyone.

This have so much to do with eBay but your listings in general. In my opinion your titles are horrible. You're not using all of the characters, not enough keywords etc... Other than that it could also be with what you're selling. You have 32 items listed in over 20 different categories. How many items do you list per day? How often do you list? Are you top rated? Are you utilizing promoted listings? I would suggest to listing more items and list everyday. By listing every day you will have much more consistent traffic which will equate to much more consistent sales. Look at your listing quality report and see what can be fixed.

Hello,
YES, THERE IS A PROBLEM
I've been dealing w the same. For years I rarely went a DAY without a sale. Then last fall it just STOPPED like you described. I called after a WEEK of ZERO. The rep "Refreshed" my account. Almost immediately it was back to normal. Well, it happened again a month later. They Refreshed it again. The time between daily sales and no sales became much closer. The 4th time I called, I was told they "no longer have the ability to refresh accounts." I called the next day and THAT guy did it no problem! A few calls later I was told
"THE ISSUE HAS TO DO WITH MANAGED PAY AND SHOULD BE FIXED IN A FEW WEEKS"
That was a week ago. So we'll see.
Today they said "No ability to refresh accounts anymore" AGAIN. She also didn't know about the issue at all!
She actually told me maybe I should "Promote my listings." REALLY? Maybe look at my account!
ALL of them are promoted! BIGtime. Lots of pics. Key words. A store. Top Rated. Competitive Prices. Best offer. Free Shipping on most. 100% Positive Feedback, etc., etc. I made WAY more sales before I did MOST of these things. DURING COVID and all the other things that were suggested.
To go from an average of 17 sales a week to ZERO... Of COURSE something is wrong. You aren't crazy. I doubt you're doing anything wrong.
They also told me I should update my listings. I do that every day! If you've called much, you know 1/2 of them don't know anything, and the rest DO. It's a crap shoot.
But I'm LOSING MONEY. My views are at a virtual standstill. I see other sellers selling the SAME THINGS for MORE MONEY and still getting sales.
I hope this helps you. I also hope some other sellers can shed some new light on this. It's getting to the point that it's not worth my time anymore.
Maybe there are other factors going on, but Daily sales to NONE is alarming. Call them and let them know what's going on. Please let me know if you learn anything. I will do the same.
If anyone has the answer to this, or any advice, PLEASE HELP!
Thanks,
M

I already left a long reply about this so I'll be short. All those things have been going on for a couple years. I found that accounts with this problem need to be refreshed by eBay. Sometimes they say they can't do that anymore. Then the next rep will. I was told the issue would be fixed in a few weeks. Something to do with managed pay. That was a week ago.
In short, some of us have issues with out accounts, just at random, while others haven't noticed any change. I'm 100% CERTAIN it's not me or my listings. Just by knowing what I know and paying attention tells me that, but I'm certain because eBay reps have told me that some accounts, including mine, have issues and they are working on it.

With so many Free Listings available, I downgraded my Store to Basic without losing any free listing spaces but keeping the advantages of Stores (lower FVF and the shipping supplies coupon).
I also list on both dotCOM and my home site (dotCA) which doubles the number of free listings I get without increasing my subscription cost.
A Basic store gives you 1000 listings while a Starter gives you 250. Do you have enough promotional free listings to make up the difference?

I can lower my listings to 250 -not a problem.

I would agree except for the number of years this person has been selling. Whatever they are doing has been working and now suddenly it's not. I'm having the same issues and I DEFINITELY don't have a lack of key words, etc. It's an issue affecting many of us. eBay is supposed to be fixing it. In the meantime it's recommended we update our listings every day. Even if we don't change anything. But I have found that changing a few minor details seems to be helpful also.
