No return policy question

Can somebody explain to me why a seller, with perfect selling score, 100%, would have a

no return policy.  I'm sure there are a few reasons but IF the buyer spent a lot of $$ on an item and just

found it not to be what it was in the picture or just doesn't fit right, etc....by the Ebay Money Back Guarantee, I'm going win a case, right?!?  Then the seller gets dinged...could get bad review, etc...Also, not have a return policy might turn off buyers.

If a seller is so sure about their product, why not give a minimal return period? I've seen 7 days....14 days??

thanks

Each seller chooses a return policy that is right for their business model, based on their own reasons.

If the item is not as described or depicted, the buyer would be covered by eBay's Money Back Guarantee (MBG).

If the item doesn't fit, that's considered a remorse return. A seller with a "no return" policy would not have to accept the return for any of the remorse-return reasons. Remorse returns are not covered by eBay's Money Back Guarantee, so, no, a buyer would not win that case.

That's apparently a risk the seller has chosen to accept. "Dings" and "bad review[s]" happen with all kinds of return policies. No seller is immune from the possibility of either of those events. (The seller doesn't necessarily get a "ding" for a return, by the way.)

Again, this is one consideration a seller has taken into account when deciding on a return policy.

Sellers may choose a no return policy for any number of reasons. It may have nothing to do with being "sure about their product."

There are a number of return policies a seller may choose:

  • No returns
  • 14-day returns only in specific product categories
  • 30-day buyer-paid returns
  • 30-day free returns
  • 60-day buyer-paid returns
  • 60-day free returns

Some sellers think that if they list with no returns it means they will never have a return (of any type).

Some sellers think that if they offer returns it means that every buyer will want to return every item.

Of course neither of these things are true.
