20 years folks. Im surprised I have a hair left in my head or a spoon that hasnt been used to gouge out my own eyeballs.
Very simple. Just wanted to downgrade my store subscription from premium to basic as im no longer listing even 200 listings instead of the 1000 the premium store gets free. Well all options to downgrade, upgrade, cancel or otherwise were grayed out due to an error on the page saying "Invalid payment method". Well my credit card is in perfect standing and has been since Ive owned it. I called my bank to confirm. The first customer service agent suggested for me to reenter my same card and I got the good ole "Double check your card number" error." The second customer service agent pulled my time tested ebay favorite answer by manually removing my card and then telling me to reenter it now..........to which I got the exact same error. When she immediately seemed confused she decided to try the "well i will personally call you back in 24 hours to make sure we get it fixed, the system just needs time." Its a good thing I knew this well trained lie upfront for holding my breath would have been catastrophic. Of course she never called. Imagine my surprise.....yawn.....next. So 30 hours later I tried a 3rd time. This young lady helped tremendously by saying she called her technical team and they would.........................suspenseful pause.........................call me back in 24 hours. Now 3 days later the 4th rep just told me my card was declined as far back as 3 days ago.................even though Im using to make purchases daily at the store etc and even though my bank says my accounts are all in perfect standing and working order. Still on hold while he "tries something else". Betting countless dollars here that they will offer to call me back tomorrow.
Im on my last leg here folks. I went from just wanting to lower my store subscription to now I have no payment source instead of the one that was working just fine. Im sure ebay will not care that it was their fault when they attempt to collect my fees and sub with no payment source. I do not keep money in paypal already because I have lost trust in ebay.
Anyone have a work around for this or a fix to this several year old "glitch"?

Sorry for your troubles. I am not sure what path you took? The only way I know to change store subscriptions is through the seller account tab then on left side bar using the subscription tab and making the change that way.
If this is the same path I would probably call eBay to have them help you make the change.

Is it possible that you've recently been issued a new card and the expiration date and 3 digit # have changed?

Ok Update! So 4th ebay seller rep says after 1.5 hours on the phone that the other ebay seller rep should have never canceled my card and that is likely why ebay is now showing it declined. He also said it was "terrible" how my last 2 ebay reps promised to call me back the next day and failed to do so.................to which he then promised..............to call me back tomorrow.
This has like a bad nightmare. But it probably EXACTLY what I needed to help make my decision to get the heck out of here. 20 years and now I can no longer list another item unless I the seller who did nothing wrong jumps through more hoops. Why not just add another card you ask? I have a business card and a personal card. This is business. I would have to order another one which takes 7 days to get in the mail. I would then have to update 14 other venues, platforms, wholesale accounts with a new card.
Not jumping through another hoop for these people. If not fixed by ebay by saturday morning Im out. Simple as that.

Hi @cashvaluerecovery2011, I'm going to get this reported for investigation as I can't see an issue that would prevent you from adding your credit card as the Automatic Payment Method on file (thus allowing you to downgrade your store). In the meantime, I have had other sellers who have gone to www.eBay.ca and were able to add a payment method there without issue, which would replicate on www.eBay.com. I know the workaround sounds silly, and I only suggest it because other sellers have found this solves the problem they are running into (or at least lets them get around the problem).
Keep me posted if anything changes and with the result of trying the www.eBay.ca workaround. I'm happy to work with you and get this resolved and ensure that any fees that come about due to the trouble you are having are appropriately credited.

I'll take a stab in the dark.
Do you have enough in PayPal to cover closing your store? Is your card on file not a type that would be able to retrieve the money? Like one that you add money on?
Maybe change payment method.
