No negative feedback for dishonest buyers hurts the platform

I have had situations where buyers bought an item they must have already owned and retuned a broken item in exchange of the original. I know this because of return items coming back with different serial number on electronics than the one that was sold.

not being able to leave feedback for scammers is really hurting this platform for honest sellers dealing with other scammers these days

@green_acres_girl

Are you aware of any other sites that publicly shame their customers?  I'm sure you don't as it is a very poor business policy which is why Ebay hasn't allowed it for over 15 years.

Posting negative FB for a buyer doesn't just affect that buyer.  That will scare away other buyers in fear that their seller will have a bad day and hit their feedback even if they don't do anything wrong.  It is simply a very bad business move for anyone to even consider this.

Agree. I think ebay's take on this is that generally the money lost on a scammer like that will be made up in volume by the new buyers who will buy from you who didn't get scared away from possibly receiving a negative feedback from a seller.

The idea is that hopefully the good will outweigh the bad.

Sellers who blast buyers with negative comments will end up selling less. Do YOU want to buy from someone who would do that?

I think majority of buyers don't even look at the seller's feedback page when buying from them. That's why I'm not worried if I get negative feedbacks from buyers.

When a seller signs up to sell on eBay, he agrees to follow certain rules and regulations.

One of those rules is that the ONLY feedback a seller can give a buyer is positive.  Or he can give none at all.

Incidentally, that particular rule has been in effect for at least 10 years and is not kept a secret from anyone.

No negative feedback for dishonest buyers may hurt the platform.

Negative feedback from dishonest sellers may also hurt the platform.

LOL  I'm an eBay customer as I pay for their service.  Yet, I'm allowed to be publicly shamed by a buyer who stole from me.  Negative feedback while keeping the item & money.  I guess that is perfectly fine.

Not only that, but soon scammers will have the option to TAKE PHOTOS 😂 So now scammers, anybody who is having a bad day or wants to cheat a seller can just take any old photo of whatever they want and claim that is what they got, or didnt get.  Its truly a golden age of dishonest sellers on ebay.

A buyer can create a new account with no feedback in a matter of seconds.

IMHO the only thing negative feedback for buyers would do is increase the number of Active Buyers on eBay's press release.

Unlike before, when a buyer who was having a bad day or wanted to cheat a seller didn't have to send any photos.

Ebay ended negative feedback because buyers who received it tended to desert the platform.

No one really cares about feedback.

Welcome to Trustless! It will only get better!

E-commerce is a deep fake.  No business can really run when we have to wait 6 months for each transaction to clear the credit card whine-back cesspool.   It will take a class action suit, or a celebrity shaming them to stop this.
