I'm new to this. I sold an item. Sent it Priority Mail before receiving the payment. Package arrived a few days ago. Still no payment and no review. What should I do next, if anything.?

Nothing - you should NEVER ship until you have been paid.  There really isn't anything you can do now; neither you nor Ebay can make him pay or return the item.

@merfos-0- There is nothing you can do at this point to force the buyer to pay.

 

I suggest opening an Unpaid Item case in hopes the buyer will submit payment. In the end if the buyer doesn't pay at least you will be able to recoup your final value fees by closing the unpaid case.

Well, rest assured you will never make that mistake again.  If you have an honest Buyer you will get paid with a carefully crafted message to them admitting you shipped prior to receipt of payment ... if the Buyer is not honest the money is gone ...

Oh you got yourself in a real pickle here.  I sincerely hope it wasn't an expensive item as it is not likely you will get paid for it now.

 

Getting feedback or review as you are calling it is the least of your concerns.  

 

Oh wait, are you saying you haven't been paid because PayPal hasn't released the money to you yet?  I sure hope this is what actually happened.  Do let us know as this makes a HUGE difference.

 

If you did receive payment and PP is holding it because you are a new seller, that would be a wonderful thing.  If this is the case, you really have received payment, you are just having to wait as all new sellers do for certain things to happen before your money will be available to you.

 

Watch the tracking on the package.  Once it shows received, you can call PP and see if you can shake your money loose sooner rather than later.  Or you can just wait until they release it.  Whichever is best for you works.

Hi @merfos-0, if an item is shipped prior to receiving payment then there isn't anything eBay can do to retrieve the item or funds for the seller. With that said, I've checked your sold items and I'm not seeing an unpaid item. I'm going to send you an email shortly so that we can look into this more closely.

How did you get the address for shipping?  Did you get an email message?  Often times, new sellers with expensive items are the target for scammers.  Was it the Coach bag?

You are not the first seller to ship without receiving payment and most likely won't be the last.  It happens.

 

Never ship an item out before you receive payment, though, because basically, you have just sent your buyer a gift. Since Brian says he sees no unpaid items, however, it may be you don't have this problem.

Take the suggestions of the very helpful people that have responded, AND if you do not get paid, CALL Customer Service and ASK for the TRUST and SAFETY Department and state your case with tracking evidence and if you have to get PAY-PAL on the phone for a 3 way CALL do it, then follow their direction, While you have Trust and Safety on the phone FILE A FORMAL COMPLAINT, then send the buyer a message letting them know you will be filing a mail fraud and theft report with the USPS Inspector General, and you will file a report with their local Police Dept. I suggest getting the zip code and address for the local Police dept in their city or town and adding it to the message. Hope you do not have to go through all this and you get paid!

It appears mam98031 is probably correct and this is likely a case where the OP is a new seller with a payment hold- if that's the case then this should work out for them.

It sounds as if you've violated a fundamental principle of online selling here.

 

If you've notified the buyer of shipment; then things could be especially difficult.

 

As one poster has already mentioned; I hope the item you shipped was not especially valuable.  I also hope that your customer has no issues with the condition of the item, once they have received it.

 

If you have not notified your customer of shipment; then you're probably still in business.   What are your payment terms as far as payment being required following the close of auction?

 

I'm mostly a buyer; but have also sold a few items recently.
