I used to end my "Good 'till cancelled" listings before the 30 day time period and relist them. When relisted, they used to pop back to the top of the search field if "Newly Listed" was the sort order, and they also carried the "Newly Listed" badge for the first 24 hours.
Am I correct that something has changed in the past few months when using "relist" (vs "Sell Similar")? In particular, can I get the definitive answer on the following:
1) Does a Good Till Canceled relisted item still appear at the top of a search for Newly Listed items. Does it get the "newly listed" badge?
2. Does a relisted *auction* item still appear at the top of a search for Newly Listed items. Does it get the "newly listed" badge?
I've been seeing strangely inconsistent search results when searching for Newly Listed items, so I am trying to determine whether eBay was rolling out some test trials, had a glitch, etc., or whether there is now a new way they are handling relists.
P.S. I'm aware that Sell Similar will push the items to the top of the Newly Listed sort order, but I'm specifically interested in the behavior of relists here, thanks!

I'm not sure, and no time to check at the moment, but this might be handled differently on a PC and the App---which are you using to come to this conclusion?

GTC doesn't relist as Newly listed as far as I know........and never has......that was what sellers complained about when they deleted the option for 30 day listings.
Likewise...........I always thought "relists" did not relist as newly listed by definition.......it was NOT a new listing.
Sell similar did get the "newly" listed designation....
Seems like you could do some tests to see if/when the designation appears.
If you are seeing what seem to be dichotomies in searches, it could be the various promoted listing listings that, I think, can appear at the top of searches no matter when they are listed...... but frankly, haven't really looked into that.

Desktop exclusively.
I am noticing this for items that are not my own as well. . . .

Hi Sorry to be so late back to this: I did not receive notice that there had been a reply.

Yes, that is why I cancel my listings before the 30 days and manually relist. In the past, when manually relisted, they popped back up in the Newly Listed sort and appeared with the other new listings that day. Now, it seems, they appear all the way back to the day of the original listing, pages down in the Newly Listed sort order and many days back from the day of the new listing.
