From the recent announcement posted by ebay:
Effective January 9, 2022, rates for the following USPS shipping services will increase an average of:
I don't use the other services and by now everyone will have seen the full post.

So it will be like $5 to send a first class package at retail rates?!?!
Lawd. I remember when I first started....Priority Mail was .83!

I think the up to 4oz. rate was about $1.45 when I started in 2011 because I charged $1.67 and put the extra toward supplies. Since the postal service got smarter and is charging by weight AND distance it is $3.79 for me to send up to 4 ounces to Hawaii, Florida, Maine and Alaska.
I need to send myself to Alaska since that is the one state on this short list I haven't visited yet.

$5 ? I wish. 13 oz to zone 8 is currently 6.28 as long as I print the postage online. First class.

Parcel Post will be cheaper. We will see.

A small snippet from the USPS article. The small flat rate box and padded flat rate envelope are what hurts me the most.
The proposed domestic Priority Mail Flat Rate Retail price changes are:
Product | Current | Planned Change |
Small Flat-Rate Box | $8.45 | $9.45 |
Medium Flat-Rate Box | $15.50 | $16.10 |
Large Flat-Rate Box | $21.90 | $21.50 |
APO/FPO Large Flat-Rate Box | $20.40 | $20.00 |
Regular Flat-Rate Envelope | $7.95 | $8.95 |
Legal Flat-Rate Envelope | $8.25 | $9.25 |
Padded Flat-Rate Envelope | $8.55 | $9.65 |

That padded flat rate rise is a real kick in the boohickey - I sell pre-owned clothing and use that a lot. I've been slowly selling down (about out of stuff here) because in my market, I can no longer afford to charge these rates.

Those poor USPS employees retirements are killing online shipping. USPS answer to everything is "raise rates". No trimming of useless waste.

That`s a huge jump! A whole buck on the Flat Rate envelope is actually a lot.

first class jumping 9% is crazy. Ebay needs to allow seller to ship using regular stamps and such. Having to always provide tracking is playing right into USPS hands. Things like Ticket Stubs for example. Ebay standard envelope should be available for use.

A bipartisan bill to abolish the 2006 act that started that pension fiasco has been languishing in the senate. It really does need to be passed. The USPS actually operates at almost neutral revenue on its own products, but the prefunding is killing it. I'm not sure the status of the bill now.

How many USPS price hikes do you guys get in a year ?
It seems like reading here they are continually upping prices - did they not just increase rates before the holiday period?
12-22-2021 11:28 PM
I don't understand. They just raised it for Christmas taes 70cents for priority flat rate. So that's not going away and they are increasing it on top of that increase? Are those tables the respondents posted for paying at post office because those aren't the current rates I pay.

The flat rate bubble increase is a killer.
If this does not stick a fork in Free Shipping, I do not know what does. OUCH!

...these raising prices won't apply to online business until July, 2022...this is only for regular consumers...
