New listing tool

Can anyone help me figure out why when you put information in the larger description box on the listing page it won't save it? Every time I click list it and go back to look at it that box is empty.  I have tried making a templet and the very same thing happens. I am about to lose my mind with this new tool listing program. I am to the point of giving up on selling on eBay if listing one item is going to take forever and then all your work is gone when you hit the list it or save button. Thank you for any information someone can give me.

Re: New listing tool

Others have reported that the problem with the description disappearing at the time of listing is somehow related to some particular browser add-ons: Ad Block, Duckduckgo, and a grammar checking add-on whose name escapes me. It is possible that there are other problematic add-ons that conflict with the new listing tool as well. If you use any of those add-ons, try disabling those on eBay while listing or editing listings.

Or try using a different browser -- preferably a new popular browser, the latest version, using default settings and with no add-ons installed -- to list or edit your eBay items, at least until either the new listing tool or those individual add-ons are altered to be compatible.

Re: New listing tool

just keep reporting it- there are many sellers experiencing the same issues right now- also with pictures not saving.

It make no sense that brand new code does not work.  Although its been out now for almost 2 years- i dont know why it keeps failing to save descriptions and pictures.

They said its modular design would be simpler and easier to maintain and manage because teams would just focus on one specific area but so far this new too is not even close to working

Re: New listing tool

Have you clicked "Show all options" on the right above the description?  Clicking the "Custom template" drop-down on the left will also bring up the text.

Re: New listing tool

Thank you. I did report the day you replied and I was told it would be fixed in 72 hours.  Yesterday, I decided to contact them because it still isn't fixed. This time they said they had no idea when it would be working and they had no advice as to what I should do. So, I pointed out that there is no way to let people know if someone has pets and that could be a major health to someone. I stated, hypothetically, that if someone opened a package and the item had been in a home where there was pet hair and it was on that item, they might have a severe if not fatal asthma attack.  I told them that they could potentially sue me for not disclosing that information. I waited for a response because I wanted to be able to have the next two sentences on record. They told me that they didn't know how to work around that issue.  I replied, if that were to happen, it would now be on record that eBay had knowledge of this problem and that I would be suing them for not providing sellers a way to accurately describe their products to potential buyers. My point in doing that was to maybe get their s..t together and fix all these bugs.  It is ridiculous that a company that large can't hire the best IT people to run a website. It has been so frustrating. I list everything on my laptop and post it. Then I must get on my phone, open the site, click to revise, copy and paste my info and description into the box, fix photos and then post it again. That takes a lot of time to post just one item. I don't know how these people that have stores are able to do this. Hopefully, it won't 'be too much longer for the nightmare to end.

Re: New listing tool

Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for the advice.  After weeks of frustration and hours of chat with eBay agents you figured out the problem. They need to hire you. I disabled all extensions and it worked. I started screaming out of excitement and just about gave my husband a heart attack. He thought maybe a snake, person, a mouse was trying to get me. Another thank you for the hysterical laugh.

Re: New listing tool

You are most welcome -- glad to hear that you were able to resolve the issue successfully, though I am sorry that you had to go through this frustrating situation to begin with.

Good luck with your listings!
