Is eBay kidding with this new listing tool. Takes three to four times as long. Why is a under 14 ounce USPS 1st class mail now charging customers $8.10 shipping charges? Should I go on. Seven calls to eBay and the reps agree with you and no corrections in site. Anybody out there with listings on Amazon. I am thinking of moving my 11,000 plus lists to them.

Let me get this straight --you were switched to the new tool with NO ability to switch back to Classic (no 3 dots on the top right of the screen, or they were there but no longer offered the switch-back option), correct?

Just as a data point, I can confirm that the link given previously does indeed bring up the previous form, after a period where it disappeared as an option. It seems to have been quietly restored to the new form, perhaps as a fallback that Customer Service can point to instead of trying to figure out how to solve seller problems with the new design, and get on to the next caller:

What a breath of fresh air it is to be able to simply scroll through that previous design of form from top to bottom, everything on one level, with no need to dig through stupid sub-menus (and sub-sub-menus) to find some basic setting.

Okay I was asking wrong66, but are you saying that YOU had the option taken completely away for a while, and now it's back? I ask because your description of it uses impersonal language ("disappeared" as opposed to "disappeared for me").  Forgive me, I'm a natural blonde.

Also may I ask, what made you check again? Like once it disappeared, why didn't you go on assuming it was permanent?  Did a CSR prompt you to try?  If so, did they SAY it had been restored, or just act like it was never gone?

BOY HOWDY.  I made a post recently about how I decided on my own to get fully used to the new format since we're supposedly all going there eventually anyway, and I figured it might be one of those cases where different doesn't equal worse, like maybe I'd get just as fast and comfortable with it, if only I used it enough.  So I used it for a good while, definitely DID get used to it, but then just out of curiosity went back to Classic, and it's definitely WAYYYY better, easier, more logical, less glitchy, etc.

Thing is, the alleged goal is to make the web and app versions the same. I don't know how anyone could stand creating listings on a phone in the first place, just with the tiny screen and thumb-typing, etc.  But there are people who use both web and app, depending on the situation, and you know what we never see them saying?  --How happy they are that they can now use the app version on their computers!   NOBODY likes it, and certainly sellers who DON'T EVER create listings on their phones shouldn't have to use it, like it's the least common denominator.

Now, what you seem to be saying, that the Classic/web option has been "quietly" restored to (you?  some people?  all people?) ..... if that's true, it might be more than a breath of fresh air, and it might be more than a temporary kindness to CSR's who are swamped with sellers having problems.  I mean, when else has a change rollout had any kind of reversal, at any point during the rollout, even if it was insanely glitchy for a while?  Did any sellers who were among the early 'waves' to get switched to MP have their Paypal option temporarily restored?  Did any new item specifics ever go away?  Nope!    What if ........ I know it's hard to imagine and maybe finding a unicorn is more likely ..... but what if FOR ONCE they are rethinking a wildly unpopular and wildly disastrous change?

I shouldn't even write that ^ out loud, probably cursing it, LOL!

Here's another question, for you or anyone else reading this.  Unless I'm remembering wrong, there was an official date by which all sellers would be rolled over to MP, and that date was public all along.  But have they given any such date for having everyone rolled to the new listing tool?

Ooo, just thought of another thing.  Okay I've only been a seller here for like 4 years (I think?) but I started coming to the Community almost immediately, as well as ebay-related social media, for learning.  I have an (admittedly fuzzy) memory of what some people were ticked off about at the time, that being their homepage.  Now as far back as I can remember, mine looked like this (see below), with that 'Switch to Seller Hub'  link in the top right corner.  I believe these were the two versions that people were upset about, though I don't know which was 'old' and which was 'new'.  As of right now, I don't know what would happen if I click that 'Switch' link, whether I would just navigate to my Seller Hub, or if Seller Hub would become my new homepage, and if so, would I lose this Overview page forever or have an option to switch back again?  All I know is, I don't need it because I can navigate to my Seller Hub any time I want, just by clicking the My Ebay menu and selecting Selling.

So my question then is, back when one of those was 'new,' did it seem like the old one would be taken away as an option permanently?  --If so, then this seems a much more relevant thing to compare to the new listing page rollout, than something like MP, because aint nothing in the universe gonna argue with money.   But as far as "seller experience" stuff goes, didn't ebay give in and let sellers keep their 'choice' in terms of their homepage?   Man, if they do that with the listing page, I would be happier'n a dead pig in the sun.  I really like the ability to include a video for occasional items, and even if it required using the garbage new listing tool I could handle that, but the ability to keep the old one for everything else would be the dream.

Correct. I'd lost the ability to go back for two months. I'm saving this link in a file. Hope it works tomorrow.

@yuzuha  answer is correct for the shipping cost.  Change the weight back to 13oz & it will NOT think it's the Priority rate.   The Shipping screen is correct, so when you go to ship, you can enter 1lb.  This has been this way for around 5 years now, maybe more.  I have fought it repeatedly, but eBay stands firm that this is the "correct" way to handle it.

I've fiddled with that link - it's the bulksell link is all - no black magic lol.   It will revert to the new listing format after a few listings, any revisions will be in the new listing format, etc.  So be sure to bookmark the link if you want to keep using it.

Huh?

YOU are the one who decides what to charge the customer for shipping.

FWIW, I got switched over with no option to go back and have not had the option appear. I'm using the old listing tool link workaround but it's a PITA and still buggy as hell.

I think I'm just going to focus on other platforms / marketplaces until eBay comes to their senses, although that is not likely to ever happen.

eBay has done a lot of dumb stuff over the years, but this is truly on another level. An absolute stunning, almost unbelievable level of incompetence.

Yes. When the latest form was being rolled out (incrementally, to groups of users at a time), the link to revert to the old form was where I showed it, but it disappeared after some period of time.

I remember writing at the time that when you first found yourself in the new form, that seemed to start a clock ticking, and the link would go away after... I don't know, 30 days, maybe. I recall that references to that link were usually worded (along with the screenshot) as, "If you can get to the old form, this is where you will find the link."

@inhawaii  Many of us use Calculated Shipping, so eBay/PB determines the cost.  However for this OP, the correct answer has already been given with Yuzuha's answer.

No, because $8 is not a retail rate (it's too high for First Class package and too low for retail Priority), and also the OP specifically said weight was under 14 ounces, so even if the shipping calculator was set at retail, it should show the price for First Class.  The mystery continues, which is why eBay has joined the thread.

Might it be showing what the Seller will pay for the label, rather than the counter rate which is what the buyer sees and pays?

Just fishing here.

Oh, and do any US states charge sales tax on postage and/or shipping labels?

We pay a federal sales tax on Canada Post purchases of shipping, so maybe?

No. The rate doesn't match up with any service either retail (counter) or online.  eBay sellers can choose whether the shipping cost shown in the listing is the retail rate or the online rate.

Some US states require eBay to collect sales tax on shipping, others don't. Either way, that would not affect the shipping price that is shown to the buyer as the "Shipping and handling" cost in the listing.
