New eBay Shipping Label layout

Just got dumped in to the new shipping label layout page ... so, can we opt out of this or are we stuck with this change too ... its not all on one screen for display so it means more scrolling ...

Page designs with more scrolling seems to be a repeating theme ... is this something they're teaching in IT Design school perhaps?

@salemwhich  I agree ... one page with all the info ... its a stinking shipping label after all NOT a novel ...

If an airliner were designed by eBay, the pilot would be running back to the cheap seats to check wind speed and the galley to check altitude.

List more, sell more. Goodwill that other, uh, stuff.

Re: New eBay Shipping Label layout

@a_c_green    Windows 8.1 and the issue occurs with both I.E. and FireFox.  Have never used, nor currently do not wish to switch to, Chrome.  Last evening it took just over 40 minutes to print 21 labels ... that is way too long let me tell you.

As to I.E. and FireFox the latter works faster.  On a certain level I am almost suspecting my Anti-Virus software may be contributing to this issue as well but am reluctant to turn if off for any testing.

For a short while in the past, I was using a Windoze 8.1 machine with Chrome, and did not have any label-printing issues, but that's not really a reproducible example that I could test now, and I think I had dropped IE by then.

I like your theory about the AV software getting in the way. Your current browser session would be trying to make a secure login to a third-party site behind the scenes, and I could see an AV package getting kind of concerned about that. Does your AV software offer a whitelist or similar exclusion process that lets you tell it which third-party site connections should not be blocked?

I accually have not issues using the new layout. When I first seen it I was baffeled but now it is a snap to use. And as far as printing everything on one page i dont do it. I use self stick labels. Not ot hard to print out the packing slip on another sheet of paper.

 I do that as well.

Re: New eBay Shipping Label layout

@a_c_green  Goo point on checking the white list within the AV program ... I know that browsers have a similar "trusted" sites list ... eBay and PayPal have been on those but in this day and age it makes sense to double check.

I know the AV software has been "scanning" the pdf label the new page downloads which again wastes time ... not sure why pdfs would be scanned though, I can see jpg, jpeg and other file extensions but pdfs are supposed to be secure if memory serves ...

It depends on what you're describing as "secure" in a PDF. You can apply password protection to prevent someone else from changing or modifying the document contents, or even just opening it for reading, but what the AV software is scanning for is embedded malware such as Javascript naughtiness or possibly even just links to another site. There are various types of annotations that can be embedded in a PDF document (e.g. bookmarks, links, forms, even audio and video), and some could be malicious.

Finally, the AV software may want to determine whether the PDF file is even a PDF document in the first place. While it may have a visible file extension showing ".pdf" on the end, a user who clicks on it could discover that it's actually malicious code that may run either visibly or invisibly once the user has opened the file.

So the AV software may be doing its job and blocking some connections or content, in which case it would need you to tell it which sites are trusted. Perhaps it had a whitelist in the past that's been accidentally deleted or overwritten. I would go into the AV package and check that the settings are up to date with what you expect to find there.

Re: New eBay Shipping Label layout

New print label layout opts you into priority shipping even though buyer has paid for 1st class.  Watch out and beware.  Very tricky.  Almost lost $3.80 on one label.  If you don't go to classic or can't, be sure you weigh the thing & measure it & add that info to the new label page.  It should change to what you had quoted.

Re: New eBay Shipping Label layout

I'm no longer getting the option to use the old shipping format. My problem with the new format is more eye strain from scrolling, no origination zip code that I could find (some PO's won't accept zips from another PO), no total cost that adds shipping paid and final price, and hard to find Regional Rate B. The new page is more difficult in my view. Wish they'd leave things alone for once.

Wow, sorry if I never replied to this post from last July ... if you use the "@" symbol then the poster's ID they get notified that you replied ... otherwise they get lost on The Community ...

Re: New eBay Shipping Label layout

Update on the new label printing page ... they have improved the shipping method section.  Instead of showing the method the Buyer selected and then 2 other non related methods they seem to now show the one the Buyer selected AND the additional method the Seller offered ... VAST IMPROVEMENT.

I got dumped into the "new & improved" page as well and for every single FCP sale it has the weight listed as 1 oz. (I use a flat rate depending on weight for FCP).

It's pathetic and beyond useless and time consuming.

Reality is the leading cause of stress.
