New board on Community - New to selling on eBay

Update as of 1/03. I've changed the name of the board to New to selling on eBay. It'll still cover the same topics as the old name, but the new board name is clearer.

Re: New board on Community - New to selling on eBay

My advice for new sellers DONT! ebay will be keeping the fees and the money the buyer pays you for as long as they want but it will be at least 30 days. They will not tell you this in advance of your sale. They get to decide how long to hold your funds based on their own criteria. You will not get a warning when submitting your item for sale. You will not receive a notification before the sale. They will not release funds for shipping. They will not release the funds on the day the buyer confirms they have the goods and leave positive feedback. Ebay wants to bilk us for every cent they can. Now that includes holding your money that you need by not releasing the funds to you until they feel like it.

And apparently they’re not at all shy about charging both buyer AND seller for shipping…they must be cleaning up at that rate plus fees!!!

Payment holds are standard on eBay for new sellers, and even for established sellers with high value sales, with performance issues, and more. Nobody is a fan of them, but they're in place as a measure of fraud prevention. Anybody considering selling on eBay should read about how the payments process works before listing anything. Here's the article about payment holds:

https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/getting-paid/getting-paid-items-youve-sold/payments-hold?id=4816

Some marketplaces release payments immediately, while other marketplaces release funds only once a month or once every two weeks - these holds are not exclusive to eBay.

Walk without rhythm, it won't attract the worm.

This appears to be a misunderstanding of how shipping and fees work. Please see an answer to your inquiry here: https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/Ebay-is-going-down-hill/m-p/33461456#M2140820

Don't know if you can do it or not.......but you might consider changing the title of your "Welcome" message on the new board.....to reflect the name change.......

Also, don't know if it can be done.......but I would fill the side "spaces" with links appropriate to "new" sellers:  Ebay Academy, ebay "how to"  U tube links, help pages, etc.......

@dhbookds thanks for the tips! I applied the changed to the new board and I agree that changing the right rail content to have more helpful links will be beneficial to new sellers.
