So now per Andrew Coumo if your in New York State and your in public you must wear a mask and yes, this does include fabric masks. Fabric masks are completely washable. Your not going to catch a virus from the mask. Your going to catch it from someone who is not wearing one.
So where do you expect everyone in NYS to find a mask? There are none in stores. Time for ebay to lift their ban and let anyone who wants to list them list them. As far as price gouging, the more competition of people listing them, the lower the prices will be. Competition has a way of doing that. People can search and find lowest to highest afterall.
Ebay, wake up!

Agree, heck the old time bank robbing cowboys made a mask without a sewing machine and elastic.

1. Here is an article on face masks
"Face masks can play a role in preventing the infection, but that role is limited. A healthy individual in a normal situation does not need to wear a mask, as per CDC recommendations. A face mask is not the ideal solution for protection from the new coronavirus for the following reasons:
2. Even Dr. Fauci states this in his daily reports.
3. You are looking to profit off this mandate by NYS before the profit margins get too skinny from increased competition. eBay has banned them period, their choice.
4. You are in NY sell them on a local forum or on a street corner

Don't get me wrong, I am all for people making their own masks, and I applaud them for doing so. But what about those who can't or don't have the materials to do so.
The CDC itself gave instructions on making one from a T-shirt, among other options for homemade ones. I'd say it would be extremely rare that there would be someone out there that can't manage to make one for themselves, or doesn't have a friend/neighbor available who can make one for them.

Actually, I've made several dozen in various sizes and given them to family and friends. There are numerous tutorials on YouTube.

When the mayor of Los Angeles announced that all workers needed to wear a face mask in L.A. County, and that anyone going out in public also needed to wear one, and that businesses could refuse service if you did not have a face mask, I could see it coming soon to Orange County.
I wrote to my daughter (who is a great seamstress) and mentioned the above and she said she would send us some that she made! She sent 2 for my hubby and 2 for me. They did not look like any of the ones I've seen on people or on the TV, so I did a google on them. WOW.....look at all the handmade ones being sold on etsy! However, none of them looked like the ones I received, so I had to ask my daughter how they worked!

If someone needs a face mask, they can make one in a few seconds.

Nah stay home. Lift the ban? Nope, I hope those people who bought hundreds of mask to make $$$$$ lose it all. Right up there with TP sellers.

Etsy has masks. Poshmark has masks. You can get them there. Those two sites are much smaller and have it much easier when it comes to policing for price gouging and hoarding - eBay is in a lot more difficult situation because of the structure of the site.
Here people use bandanas, mufflers - I had to go to the store the other day and forgot my mask and zipped my running shirt collar over my nose and mouth. The video upthread with the Surgeon General shows a mask being made out of a piece of T shirt and two rubber bands and it looks fine (he's got great screen presence).
The fact is, masks DO help because they keep people aware and are a quick, portable barrier, and they can be easily fabricated and laundered. But just about anything works.
ETA: And it's easier than what we had to wear through two summers of forest fires when we had ash-strewn air - then most things didn't work and we had those uncomfortable N95 types.

You don't need a mask. Use a bandana or any other cloth material. It's just to cover your face.

Yep - they are begging sellers to make them and add them to their shop.
Gee - I wonder which site new buyers will remember after this all calms down?

and guess which site will also be remembered as the one that encouraged sellers to capitalize on this crisis ...you don't think that site saw a grand opportunity to make $ for itself? That site is just as greedy as its sellers and making the most of this situation.

If I was looking to buy something, and I found it on one site rather than another, I think I'd remember that in a positive sense.
