New Seller, Item Not Shipped

Over a week ago I won an auction for an item. The next day the seller created a label but hasn't done anything since.  I sent them a message a few days ago and have had no response. He has 50/50 on reviews, with 2 being positive and 2 negative. Should I wait a bit and see if they ship or respond? 1.PNG2.PNG

Re: New Seller, Item Not Shipped

So it turns out he used smartpost even though it was suppose to be regular ground and USPS just got the item from Fedex in Illinois. I got a text and a usps tracking number. Fedex didnt even scan it or said they received the item for the tracking.

Just use the USPS tracking number and track it from USPS.com

That is usually the outcome when a buyer escalates a claim to Ebay.  I hope your next transactions go much smoother.

Re: New Seller, Item Not Shipped

Ebay prefers that all communication go through eBay messaging.  The seller is not going to tell you on the phone that you are being scammed, and their sounding fishy has no bearing on anything.  Many know that eBay communication should be through Ebay messages, and they won't take a call for that reason.

The reason you want to go through messaging is to avoid a he said/she said situation.  Ebay CS can read messages.  That protects you from having someone claim you said something that you never did.

No reason to confront a possibly scamming seller.  Opening an INR will accomplish what needs to be done, without a phone call.

Most  know that communication with the seller is suggested by eBay  and they will even tell you thru the site map how to get a hold of the sellers phone number.

and they won't take a call for that reason.

Think about this. If you try to actually talk to a supposed scamming seller. You have confronted them and they can not hide behind  eBay.

The reason you want to go through messaging is to avoid a he said/she said situation.

The reason you don't want to use messaging is because most of the time it is simple miscommunication that when you actually talk to someone is easily cleared up.

Ebay CS can read messages.  That protects you from having someone claim you said something that you never did.

Absouletley no reason to believe the seller is a scammer. As you have already found out. He did ship it wrong, but it does not sound like he tried to scam you.

Opening an INR will accomplish what needs to be done, without a phone call.

When you make a phone call that person can't hide can they. A lot of problems would be solved with a phone call rather than messaging. I know it has worked well for many on these boards.

I am glad you got a refund and hopefully won't have any problems in the future. Remember a phone call as a good option.

@pauls-parts

Just FYI, I find the above post hard to follow.  Probably my old eyes, but there isn't enough differentiating what the other poster originally posted and what you are responded.  It kind of blends together too easily.  At least for me.

Re: New Seller, Item Not Shipped

Looking back you are right. My response was in Italics. Next time I will use a different color or something.

Thanks.
