In the past if I had a buyer state they didn't get their package, yet the item stated it was delivered all I had to do was upload the tracking number and the case would be closed within minutes.
Now ebay makes sellers want 3 business days to.close the case while placing a freeze in funds? 3 eBay reps told me that it is to give the seller time to make it right. I am trying to fully understand what a seller could do to make or right when he or she already did? Item is delivered. I empathized with buyer. Stated to check with neighbors and all that fluffy stuff. Nothing else I can do ? File police report etc etc.....
Anyway my funds are on hold now waiting for....? well I don't know because the rep couldn't even answer that one.
Has anyone had a case like this close faster because I've talked to 3 people in 3 days (not business days because buyer opened case on saturday, just 10 minutes after the item was marked delivered ) and none would close the case. I'm just confused as to why and what it is we are waiting for to get a case closed when there isn't even a reason for it to remain open. I don't understand

No worries. I was told to pass that info to buyers who dont have secure locations for mail delivery. Bad areas etc...I'm sure it's completely useless to be honest

Ebay wants interest. If they do this to every Did Not Receive, think of the money they pile up.

Ebay has stated in print in multiple locations that they do not earn interest off of held funds.

Hi, in the “held funds” policy, eBay states they do not collect interest on them, see below.
”TIP: If we place a hold on your funds, it will usually be resolved within 30 days. For most orders, adding tracking information can help you receive your funds faster. eBay does not earn interest on held funds.”

Maybe eBay just wants to make sure sellers have a little time to have done "all that fluffy stuff" and for mis-scanned packages to turn up.

When did this start?
Could it be an isolated incident?
I had one about a week ago. The funds were not put on hold. The case was closed immediately.

Not sure. Ive been doing this for 20 years and never had a case not close when tracking is delivered

Probably a true statement but eBay is not the ones holding the funds Adyen is. I remember when PayPal was the financial processor and they told you up front that if you had a positive balance in your PayPal account that they earned interest on it.

This identical situation happened to me for the first time today. A buyer opened a case that they didn’t receive a motorcycle helmet from me. I checked the usps priority Mail tracking. Package was picked up on June 30 and delivered on July 2. eBay also sent me a message that my funds are on hold.
I sent the buyer a screenshot of the tracking info and number and delivery date. I asked him to check with anyone who has access to his deliveries. I told him he could report the missing package to usps with the provided tracking number.
But this is absurd that eBay reserves the right to hold my funds when usps tracking shows the item was delivered. What am I supposed to do? Drive with usps and ring their doorbell while asking them to pose for a photo with their package? If the package never arrived that is one thing and if it was delivered in poor condition that’s why usps has insurance. But it is completely unethical for eBay to withhold seller funds for an item that usps confirms as being delivered to the buyer’s listed eBay address. This situation is ripe for fraud.

HOGWASH, money doesn't sit in limbo without earning interest unless it's under your matress!

Josh; Hat to tell this but the current new USPS employee's aren't very well trained . USPS carriers have been know to scan delivered before they deliver it. Some times back up carriers don't deliver to the correct house or they can't read very well to get the package to right house . . I had a backup USPS driver that had poor reading skills , that I had to chase after to get 3 packages that siting in back of mail truck and I had pointed out they where mine.. Also I would through out fraud ,when there is a good chance your buyer had a goof ball usps employee that screwed up.

There is a problem with that. Ebay doesn't have the money. That is what they hired Adyen to do. Process the money. Ebay manages the information, but Adyen processes the literal money.

Ebay has been doing this for a long time now. They allow the three days just in case the buyer or the seller or both need some time to work on the problem. I remember when they did close them right away, but I don't mind waiting the 3 days.
Filing a police report for what exactly? Your money would likely clear into your account before they responded to the police report, which would be a complete waste of everyone's time.

When one charges any amount of money on a credit card and pays the entire balance before the due date they are not charged interest for up to 30 days and may even earn 1.5 to 2% interest on their new charges. It is when the card holder only pays a partial amount do they get charged a significant rate of interest.
Secondly, we have a relatively small amount of money in an passbook savings account - funds for our Christmas gifts. Our starting balance at the beginning of the last quarter was $400 and at the end of the quarter was 700. The total interest earned was 13 cents interest rate .01%..
Seriously doubt eBay earn interest for holding fund for 3 business day.
Do you have any info on how much $$$ they piled up say last year???? Or is this just conjecture?

100% agree. I've been doing this for 20 years. The moment that package is uploaded with a delivered notification ebay should close the case. I asked them why they do this. They said it is so the seller can make it right. Insaid its already right. Case closed. Give me my funds. I'm disgusted by this. I've tried 4 reps and nothing. Buyer opened case July 8th. Ebay cannot step in till July 16th. I'm losing interest and this had to change. I also agree. Opens me right in for fraud at this point.
