New Item Specifics Mandate - let the disasters begin!

Gee, imagine my surprise this morning when a Buyer purchased an item and then sends me THIS message.

"Hello,

I used Buy it now for this __________, and paid for it.  However, I got a message that it is not available any more, from eBay.  If that is correct please refund the payment.

Thank you,

"Buyer"

This item HAD the REQUIRED ISs updated ... gee, that message eBay sent the customer sure doesn't "Enhance the Buying experience" now does it?!?

Did I expect this to be another seamless eBay transition?  Hmmm, errrr, ahhhhh ................... Nope

maybe I am not quite following but if it was the last one that you sold maybe the buyer was notified you had none left.

i understand the buyer did pay....why did he get that message.do you have more of the same item left?

is the number left in stock part of the IS problems?

My sales are down about 50% this morning...maybe this has something to do with it? So frustrating!

Re: New Item Specifics Mandate - let the disasters begin!

What a colossal disaster this is.  I spent the past week revising/updating hundreds of listings.  I list all of my items through Auctiva.com, who has not updated their listing form to show the new required menus.  They are blaming eBay.  Ebay is blaming Auctiva.    Much more time wasted on my part, fewer sales, on, and on, and on.  All of this to add item specifics that I already include on each of my listings.  Such idiocy on eBay's part.

And... we have the mess just as was predicted.

Re: New Item Specifics Mandate - let the disasters begin!

Now they have moved all TV & Movie character toys into Action figures (do they even know what an actual "action figure" is?) any variation listing is no longer allowed to have "character" as a variation attribute.

They screwed this up when they messed with the Lego category a while back as well.

Where would they suggest we list Thomas the Tank toys? They're hardly "action figures".

Oh, and they moved a bunch of figures (ornaments) with bear in the title into Dolls & Bears - stuffed animals (and of course charged a Gallery Plus fee).

Is the buyer mistaken thinking they paid for it?

Can you explain how what the buyer experienced is related to the listing having required Item Specifics?

I am missing the connection.

Re: New Item Specifics Mandate - let the disasters begin!

@luckythewinner   Easy, nothing on that list has changed for months other then the recently updated Required Item Specifics as indicated by eBay.   So the connection is eBay's Item Specifics mandate and implementation as of yesterday the 12th ...

@dhbookds   As I just advised another poster, the ONLY change in months on that listing was the Required ISs from eBay ...

I guess would be asking the buyer for clarification about the exact nature of the message he received before jumping to the conclusion that required Item Specifics somehow caused eBay to send a bogus "out of stock" message to the buyer.

My Out of Stock setting is correct, the item moved to Sold and is not on "my" Active list any more.  It is a very good question about why the Buyer got the message, they have been on eBay for a very, very long time so my assumption is they know what they are doing.
