New International Shipping

Has anyone had any luck with the new International Shipping program? I think they may have rolled it out a little too soon, before the bugs were fixed. I'm already seeing problems reported in the community forum.

1: I cannot find any notification on the item listing that it has been transferred to the new system. Ebay says to just cancel the existing international shipping and it's automatically transferred. But without any confirmation, how would you confirm.

2: How would you remove the new international shipping from an item and how would you confirm this? (See no 1).

3: I've seen other sellers complain that when eBay does not approve an item for the new system, the transaction still goes through and the seller is forced to print a label using old system which defeats the purpose of the new system. Obviously, there are some item the seller may not want to ship outside the US using the old system. It would be much easier if eBay refused the transaction on the buyer's side, given there is likely a good reason they do not want to ship to the location.

This all sounded too god to be true. Maybe the bugs will be eventually fixed.

Re: New International Shipping

Do any of your listings currently offer "international" shipping?

If so, was that via the eBay GSP, or direct "international" shipping?

1: I cannot find any notification on the item listing that it has been transferred to the new system. Ebay says to just cancel the existing international shipping and it's automatically transferred. But without any confirmation, how would you confirm. I took a look at a couple of your listings and it does not appear you are selling internationally at the moment, at least the items I looked at.

2: How would you remove the new international shipping from an item and how would you confirm this? (See no 1). This is one of the issues as sellers are transitioned to the new EIS shipping program provided of course they are eligible to be transitioned. The GSP had few restrictions when it came handling international shipments. The EIS program has a LOT of constraints and restrictions.

3: I've seen other sellers complain that when eBay does not approve an item for the new system, the transaction still goes through and the seller is forced to print a label using old system which defeats the purpose of the new system. This all sounded too god to be true. Maybe the bugs will be eventually fixed. Even when it was announced there were a LOT of inconsistencies regarding the new program. At the time I was selling internationally using the GSP but concerns with the new program made me decide to OPT out of the GSP and quit selling internationally before I was unilaterally transitioned to EIS. It is going to take some time to get the kinks worked out and unfortunately the company eBay contracted with to handle the program is a fairly new Chinese base logistics company that does not have an extensive track record. The GSP was ran by Pitney Bowes who is a long established premier logistics operations company, among other things.

Re: New International Shipping

Is ebay going to make this transfer without any notice. I was asked to cancel GSP on my listings. I assumed that ebay would ask did I want to enroll in the new ISP program. Is this assumption correct or is it like many other assumptions- making a "donkey" out of you and me?

Is ebay going to make this transfer without any notice. At some point if you are using the GSP yes I believe they will unilaterally transition you to the EIS. I was asked to cancel GSP on my listings. Who asked you to do that? I assumed that ebay would ask did I want to enroll in the new ISP program. It looks like some of your items have already been transitioned to EIS. Others indicate international shipping but no method defined by the seller. This appears to be one of the transition problems.

There is a difference between ISP and EIS. Which one are you wanting to use, if either. Following is a help file on both.

Re: New International Shipping

EIS, so far, has worked ok. I've had about 6 in the past 2 months.

If you were in GSP and only had 'certain' items in GSP, everything was moved, including items NOT in GSP, into the new EIS.

The work around was to bulk edit all items you don't want to ship internationally, and 'exclude' ALL countries (except USA) and that will show 'excluded to 218 countries'.

To bulk edit was easy and took about 10 minutes.

Re: New International Shipping

Hi, I did have some items listed for International shipping but I removed them as instructed by the eBay video so they would be put on the new system. My question was: How does one know if there items are on the new system? I have yet to find an answer.

I am going to opt out for now. I'm hearing nightmare stories of sellers who have had issues. If the Chinese wrote the program, that would also give me cause to opt out. They continue to abuse the system with listing practices and fake items, especially in the mineral business.

Thanks for all the replies.

Re: New International Shipping

Yes, I've been on it for months.  I've had about 8-10 txs & they were all fine except for one who got double charged VAT tax.  It was an eBay problem but of course the buyer expected me to fix it.  It was resolved (by eBay) & she left POS FB.  All the other ones were smooth sailing.

You'd know you were in it b/c you would have rec'd a message telling you so.  Also, your listings would say EIS instead of GSP.

Re: New International Shipping

Points:

1. You can independently verify your listings are available on a foreign Ebay site, .ca, .de, .fr, etc, by going to that website and searching for your listing.  But, don't stop there.  Instead, click on your listing like your attempting to purchase it: you want to confirm it's available for purchase.

2.  Currently, the only way to make sure your item is not available through EIS is to opt out or add your own international shipping.

3.  I don't have a comment specifically for this issue...but, I will say EIS has been working great for me.  I've sold a few items in the $400 to $500 range through EIS and it gave me piece of mind.

EIS works great for me as I primarily list in one category, but I could see it being a problem if your listing in a wide selection of categories.

Some good news is that Ebay recently increased the sold limit to $2500 usd.

It would be more helpful to to others if you could be more specific about the issues you have had or are having other than simply stating "it is terrible". Others that are having issues or are worried about transition issues may be interested in the specifics.

Re: New International Shipping

I will tell you my experience, GSP was great and that's probably why they're getting rid of it.

The new International Shipping, same as the old one.

Garbage, no real seller protection.

You will have to jump through many hoops to cover yourself if a buyer opens a case.
