New Ebay International Shipping Program Questions

       1. From what I have been told from Ebay reps... there is a $500 cap on all listings that will ship through the program.  If your item is over that - ebay will direct the buyer to contact seller to arrange shipping privately and directly with carriers with no USA hub or protections of any kind..   Can anyone confirm this because if so we are going backwards 15 years in product vs the GSP.

2.There have been reports that Ebay motors / parts and accessories (USED) are an EXCLUDED category and cannot ship through EIS.    Can anyone confirm this?  Ebay motors is, and has been the highest grossing category on ebay- are they really taking away the GSP and keeping sellers from selling worldwide with EIS?  This does not make any sense but several sellers are reporting this.

Please ask the Shipping Team:

The Ebay International Shipping Terms state that the following items are not eligible for the program:

  • eBay Motors > Airbags, Used Parts, AC Refrigerant

Does this mean ALL used parts are ineligible, or just used parts associated with Air Bags?

If this means ALL used parts, what alternative international shipping method is available to sellers for shipping used auto parts?

Re: New Ebay International Shipping Program Questions

I just called in merchant support and went through it with the agent. She came to the same conclusion- no used parts period.    And of course no way to avoid being swept into the program. We got an ebay message saying we were soon to be switched over to the exciting new program so i imagine its only a few days or weeks away.     So exciting! Today i can sell all around the world and we do- then ill be switched over to the big improvement of EIS and 98% of my product will no longer be able to be sold or shipped around the world!- that is the whole reason that we sell on ebay and pay fees- world wide visibility!!!!! If i did not want that- I would save all the fees and open a road side stand for crying out loud.

Do people really get paid to come up with these ideas?

Re: New Ebay International Shipping Program Questions

After you're enrolled, you will have the ability to opt out on your shipping preferences page. So if a different international service works better for you, you'll be able to set that up.

@wastingtime101  I do see that on my Shipping Preferences.  I think I just gave someone else a wrong answer.  Do you know if you can go back to GSP?  I don't want to try it b/c I'm fine with EIS so far.

No you cannot go back to GSP @simply-the-best-for-you. Once your account is switched there's no going back. All you can choose at that point is in or out.

Re: New Ebay International Shipping Program Questions

My understanding---and I sure could be wrong LOL---is that for a listing to be in the program the seller has to be eligible but so does the item...if the item is not eligible, the listing will not show EIS as a shipping method, and I believe the seller will be able to ship internationally through her carrier of choice (but not GSP, that is being retired)

So, a seller should be able to sell used auto parts internationally, just not through an ebay international shipping program.

Whether EIS will be expanded over time to include used auto parts is an open question. I'm pretty sure ebay has already said that the $500 max will be increased in the future, but whether some of the restrictions will be lifted ...I don't think ebay has said anything about that.

Re: New Ebay International Shipping Program Questions

@my-cottage-books-and-antiques I do believe you are correct about being able to ship on your own but what is the point in that...too risky. no protections, customs forms,  higher shipping cost to buyer making items less desirable.  That is why the GSP was developed in the first place- to help sellers sell internationally without a huge burden of risk.

So ebay's big improvement is to say you have to go back to 15 years ago ?  I know retro is cool but this is ridiculous.   Every program they release is half @$$ed and 2 years away from being ready to actually release.            This is looking like managed payments debacle and the listing tool disaster all over again.

Yes and no. That's kind of an involved and complex answer. Wait for my FAQ because I don't want to get into the nitty gritty right now of what eBay's blocking and what they aren't.

Re: New Ebay International Shipping Program Questions

Concerning whether it will show up ornot, i was told by agent the listings will still show up on international ebay site but when they try to buy the iten, a banner will come up telling the seller that it cannot be shipped through EIS and they should contact the sellers to get other shipping options!

great work- pass the buck onto the seller so we can assume all risk or tell buyer we wont ship to them.  Makes everyone look bad and is going to drive buyer frustration and bad experiences. Nothing worse than finding that amazing rare item that you've been looking for for years and being told "too bad you cant have it!"

"But you used to ship to me before"- they will say!  But ebay made it better we will say back- lol

Hey @my-cottage-books-and-antiques! The Shipping Team wanted to share this update with you:

"Not all used parts are blocked, we block based upon if the item could potentially have oil, gas residue or be considered a dangerous good (flammable, corrosive, etc)."

Re: New Ebay International Shipping Program Questions

Could the shipping team clarify this statement please. Who makes that decision?- and is it at the category or sub category level?- It cant possibly be on a listing by listing basis can it?   There are millions of used car part listings that have nothing to do with gas or oil- sellers know themselves what they are selling far more than someone in an office building who has never even changed a tire or changed the oil in their car.....

could we have a comprehension list of Every sub category that is banned like they do with the GSP program so we know had to proceed with our businesses?

"Not all used parts are blocked, we block based upon if the item could potentially have oil, gas residue or be considered a dangerous good (flammable, corrosive, etc)."  not to split hairs but literally every item sold has the "potential" to have gas or oil residue etc-  A 70 year old carburetor that has been sitting dry in a barn for nearly a century  has absolutely no flammable residue left  in it but a  late madel piece of car trim could have been soaked in flammable cleaner and solvent......  Who is deciding what "potential" means?
