Never received payment

I sold an item on November 12th, since I was going out of town for Thanksgiving I went ahead and mailed item before payment.  Buyer assured me she would pay.  I never received payment to date it is Dec 5th.  I did open a claim but will I ever get paid!  It was only $14.00, but still!  I learned a lesson not to ship before payment! Any suggestions!?

Don't ship before payment. But you learned that already. Not much else to say. 🙂

Better to learn a lesson on a $14 sale than a $140 sale! There's nothing you can do to force the buyer to pay. Ask them again, try calling them maybe, but you don't have any protections with eBay when you ship before payment.

Probably not. Don't forget to close the claim so you at least get a credit for your final value fee.

Like other posters said: Seems like a lesson learned! 😞 Make sure you have the claim closed so at least you don't get a final value fee.
For next time: I try not to have any auction end within a week of when I plan to go away. If I see I need to leave, I send an email to buyer saying something like this:
"Hi. Glad you won this auction. Please note that I will be out of town from 11/21 - 11/23. Please remit payment by 11/20 3pm so I can ship out before I leave. If payment is received after that time, I will ship upon my return on 11/24. Thank you for understanding"
But try not to put yourself into this position by having your listings require immediate payment for buy it now, and don't end auctions close to traveling time.

Sorry but there isn't anything you can do.  When you sent it without being paid, you basically sent the buyer a gift.  Ebay cannot force a buyer to pay anymore than they can force a seller to ship.

Never ship before being paid as you may never get paid in that case.

I have had several sellers through the years send me something without payment.  One was a newbie who hadn't set up Paypal, so when I tried to pay, I couldn't.  She was so mortified when I told her, she sent the doll right out, and this was not a ten dollar doll.  I paid when I received it and cautioned her to never do that again and some might not pay after the fact.  Another was a buyer who decided they did not want what they won, and my contact info was passed on to the buyer as I was the runner up.  She just sent it and this was pricey.  I paid her and cautioned her, too, as I don't want to see anyone out their money, but she was a very trusting soul and just couldn't see that that might happen.

While it was your decision to send an item without payment, it is the buyer's decision to use it knowing it hasn't been paid for.

Add them to your BBL.

Lilly, if you close out the Unpaid Item claim to recoup your fees you should send the buyer a PayPal invoice... just in case they decided to pay in the end they need a way to do it.
