Soooo....... a buyer contacts me to buy items I have listed elsewhere but, does so on eBay. The items he wants to buy are not posted in my eBay but, I had similar items posted. Why not just write to me there?? Anyway, now I get a warning about selling outside of eBay. This is not the case - I did not sell outside of eBay since this item he bought wasn't even listed for sale. I did end 2 listings on here because someone else bought 4 items from another. Some of my items are posted on both. Luckily, no punishment was forced upon me for something I didn't even do! Of course, that occurence would have finalized my decision to leave. Especially considering I rely on December to be my best sales month on eBay. Ruining my chance for a good Christmas would have made me furious! 🙂 Good luck to all.

Once you ended your two listings, the bots saw that as selling outside of ebay. Even though you had no intention of doing so.

The Blues recommend responding, I only sell and communicate on Ebay; this way, if need be, CS can see what your intentions were.
Both parties get that email the first time. It's noted on your account, and cannot be removed, but if you feel it requires clarification, you can call CS and ask them to note on your account that you did not do this. Then sanctions may kick in if it happens again.
Ebay can charge FVF on items they have reason to believe were ended for an off ebay sale. Possibly since this was your first time, that did not happen.
Here's hoping you have a wonderful Christmas, great sales, and decide to stay.
All the best.

Be prepared if you do it again to be banned from Ebay.

The funny thing about Ebay is that we see big stores selling their things here.
Should they be taken down for selling to other buyers without Ebay getting their cut? They list items, you may be so ignorant, dumb, or whatever, but you never heard of such store, so, you see one of their items listed here, and then you realize that store is in your town. Then you go there, and buy it.
I am telling you this because last night I went through San Jose CA downtown, 3 miles away from me there it was, in a corner, an Amazon safe pick up store, or something like that. Did I know about it? No!
If you haven't paid for your item, you're a winning bidder, not a buyer!

What you are describing is different then the OP's situation. Did you ask the seller to sell the item to you using Ebay messages ? If you did that first, after you asked and went and bought the item locally did the seller remove the listing ?

Who offered what?
I didn't say I contacted anybody? I am a seller, not a buyer most of the times, 99.9%.
I have a local pick up option in my listings. Last time I met one buyer was a $2,000 deal, cash in hand. I could have told him to cancel the sale and sell the items on the side saving me what? About $220. But I am greatful and I honor my commitment to Ebay.
What I was saying is that a seller as Bestbuy can do deals on the side. They are not bound to this rule because the sale is unknown to Ebay. They basically put an item on sale, and that sale brings more watchers whom then go to that store, and that sale doesn't bring any $ to Ebay. I am not saying they do it on purpose, but that's the nature of their relationship with Ebay, it is pure advertising. Or, you haven't seen those ads on your very own listings?
If you haven't paid for your item, you're a winning bidder, not a buyer!

The reality of the situation was the guy bought something from me that wasn't posted on eBay. I just had similar listings here. They were rock band carnival mirrors. He wanted a Motorhead one but, I had Beatles & Rush on eBay. A completely different guy bought 4 mirrors from me; not through eBay & I needed to remove 2 of them from here because they were no longer available. None of the sales were related to eBay. Cheers!

It doesn't matter. If it looks to them like you did it, then you did it.

Some sellers were taking transactions off ebay, so Ebay went to this to stop any fee avoidance that was occurring. Just like they went to FVF on shipping when sellers would move most of the item cost into the shipping price, to avoid paying fees.
Not saying you did this, OP.

I wish I had written it down (or screen shot or something like that). Saw a listing yesterday for $10 or so and shipping of $390.
Ebay gets its cut either way.
