I had a customer leave a negative review when I reached out to them to find out more the customer informed me if I would give them the item and their money back they would change their review. Is this not extortion? What can I do because I have one negative review out of over a hundred and it is from this individual. I told him that it was not going to happen that I would keep the negative review and never do business with them again.

To me, Amazon's negative feedback is the harshest as they never go away and are almost always in the seller's stats. Not even 1 in 10 buyers leave FB on that site, so the negatives can really sink a sellers percentage. It can remain that way for years because so few buyers leave feedback to dilute the effects of the negative.

Amazon seems altogether a tougher site to sell on.
I used to leave FB back in the mid-90s when it was still Earth's Biggest Bookstore and basically down the street from me, but really haven't much since, so I'm guilty of the same thing (I buy commodities, downloads and cheap Chinese chit and it just doesn't seem necessary, though I do leave some product and book reviews).
But the "other E" - eBid? Ecrater? Etsy?

@calou-3838 the negative is over 6 mos ago, so too late to change anyway

So why are you making a post about it now ???

I am arguably the biggest, most rabid, rippin' hellcats partial refund scammer hater in the joint, but I have 2 beefs with your post. Maybe I'm wrong about either/both, in fact I hope I am.
Firstly, I don't believe you were told that the buyer has to make the feedback extortion threats IN the feedback in order for it to count as such, and warrant a removal. I think you must have misunderstood what you were told, that in fact they told you the buyer's message(s) to you were not clear extortion threats. You mentioned email and Facebook contacts about this removal request, and you said this "just" happened, so it should be easy to find those responses from eBay again. If they really said the threat has to be spelled out in the public feedback, let's see the screenshots.
Secondly, the reason I don't think the buyer even threatened feedback extortion in their messages is because I read their comments. They started out by saying they had a good experience with you before, and then their description of their disappointment with this purchase sounds sincere to me. Maybe that one picture isn't enough to convince you the item arrived damaged but maybe it was hard to photograph after it was already installed in their washing machine.
And that leads to the other reason I'm going against my usual view on this matter. -I have taken apart a washing machine to fix it. I know that you really can't tell if the repair/replacement is going to work unless you fully do it and test it out, so that's a lot of work. Add to that the size of this thing, and how you apparently didn't pack it very well. -So to return it, they would have to go through the whole disassembly process and then try to pack this big thing, either with the packing materials you used, or purchase their own. All that ...... just to get back to where they started, shopping for this part all over again, at least a couple weeks after their initial purchase.
I have given very few partial refunds here, but this seems like one where I would do it. If they said they could make the item work, I would consider that work they shouldn't have had to do (or they could have bought one with STATED damage, for cheaper). -Again, I could be wrong. Maybe this buyer was a lot more rude or suspicious in their messages than they sound in their feedback. But again, you could prove that with screenshots.

It is easier in some ways and harder in others. Sellers here thing Ebay has too much control. OMG AMZ is crazy. The really hurt me financially last year. I had a product that I likely sold around 10-15K worth per year, maybe even a little more. I was the only seller that sold it and life was good. Then one day I realized I had not had any sales on this product for about a week, so I went to take a peek at the listing.
A brand new seller was on the scene. For whatever reason AMZ had they were featuring this new seller and burying me. I had 1,000's of successful transactions for this product. Boy if this hasn't hurt!

Still too old. You have 30-60 days and that is it.

It's that capitalism that we're all supposed to worship, until it goes bad. Amazon has no loyalty to anyone or anything but its shareholders. I'm sorry these things happen.

I know it's just semantics to differentiate capitalism from corporatism, but I think there's a huge difference, and without getting specifically political, we can cite the precise point in history when these two 'ism's' diverged astronomically. I don't know which aspect of this perverse modern version bugs me the most. Lately it's the freedom to be completely opaque. -Like for instance, the fact that eBay gets to be the entity both offering us promotion AND assessing whether that promotion is what fetched us a sale ... and they don't have to prove it to us (or the government, or anybody) whether the assessment is true or how they do it. When I lowered all my promotion rates, I suddenly started having a lot more sales "via promotion" ... as if to balance it out and keep getting the same amount of fees from me per month or whatever. But I can't prove it, or even receive proof to the contrary. Transparent as mud, this enormous profit-maker they created.

Because it's bothered me and I just found out there is a way to talk about it with other sellers. I am brand new at this why does it bother you? Are you someone who does this kind of thing to new sellers are something? I am utilizing my resources and researching it to find out if it is a regular occurrence. I can post anything I want whenever I get ready. You don't have to respond if your going to be rude about it. I have the right to ask or post anything I want to whenever I get ready. What makes it your business? If you can't give positive information keep yourself out of this discussion. Be professional or butt out.

I don't know if I am doing this correctly but I'm talking about a camera not a washing machine. I sell vintage cameras. I don't know anything about a washing machine part or anything about anything to do with Facebook or anything else you have me confused with someone else.

I'm often confused but not in this case. I wrote that reply to another person in the thread whose was talking about a washing machine part.

When it says "Past 6 months" that means up to 6 months (but more than one month).
