Buyer sent me an email earlier today about an item they received damaged. I work days. Didn't even have a chance to in any way address their issue - there were numerous ways to handle this situation: I have more of the same bobble head; I could have sent them a new one; I could have refunded them.
I didn't even get a chance to respond via email to them to discuss how they wanted to proceed.
What the heck?

That's interesting. I thought I would ask them and air all this out before I sent them the request. I just checked though and since there is a 10 day window, I sent them the revision request.
I am honestly totally confused as to where they are coming from at this point as their last email made it seem like they were out of line.

Possibly in retrospect they realized they were too hasty, and felt badly about that. So they decided they wanted to fix it.
Very possible. Someone does something they wish they hadn't, realizes after the fact, and then decides to make amends.
It's a good thing.

The polite thing to do would be to at least give the seller 48 hrs to respond. Ppl do have lives to lead. Even B&Ms aren't open 24/7.
However, ebay does show a red alert to the buyer recommending they've contacted the seller to try to work things out.
You could contact the buyer offering the options you've stated and ask if they would retract. I'd do this depending on what other type of feedback they've left for other sellers.

It's also called sobering up after a friday night partying, and discovering all the activities that took place you can only vaguely remember. I won't lie, there have been times I awoke, and found items have been purchased that I had been mulling over for way too long, or deleted off their repective list. Thank god for recently viewd so that I can recover if needed, and the items I purchased? I'm guess the late night gave me the vision, it was time to buy.

According to eBay nothing you can do they protect buyers not the sellers

I am finding a different site as eBay protects buyers not sellers and they make their money off of sellers

Not even allowing a half a day (I don't know if they even gave me 6 hours before they trashed me with a negative) is INSANE.
I don't know about saying it is "insane", but most certainly it is not reasonable. But Ebay does not require buyer's to be reasonable unfortunately.

" I thought I would ask them and air all this out before I sent them the request."
What?? Why in the world would you even consider doing that. You need to stop taking this personally. It was a business transaction. You have a buyer that is willing to revise the FB they left. Why would you potentially jeapordize that by wanting to "air" it out? What good would that serve? Maybe you'd feel better, but it is not likely to do anything for the health of your selling account.
You have not stated that this buyer is trying to get anything out of you. So just let them revise the FB and move on. You have nothing to gain by confronting them because your feeling were hurt. Your feelings ARE important, but sometimes we have to set them aside. This is one of those times.

Sellers on eBay have no protection at all, that’s why I’m done selling on the site, going through the same garbage myself, selling local is the way to go now, good luck!!

Now they're not responding to my last email. Nor have they retracted (yet). Of course, though, they expect me to answer their demands AT ONCE, IMMEDIATELY but do not extend the same expectations of themselves.
I sell golf clubs now about a 3 month window of the year when they have selling value, and right now I'm smackdab in the middle of that...and thanks to them they have hit me with a negative right in the middle of one of my biggest selling weeks of the year. Who knows how many non-bids I will get on the dozens of items I have listed this week thanks to the negative.
Whatever. Maybe they'll retract the negative today some time...when they get around to it....

I had a similar situation; the buyer said if they didn't hear from me by that evening, they would leave negative feedback (their item wasn't late, but 1st class tracking was not showing, as sometimes happens). Instead, she promptly left negative feedback. Then the next day, she bought another item! So I feel your pain. Some buyers seem to leave negative feedback out of impatience, and with the feedback system being so one-sided, it makes it very easy for buyers to basically blackmail a seller. I personally would consider your response time to be reasonable. You can't be on Ebay 24/7. Or at least I would not want to be.

You have to add these people to your "banned bidder" list immediately. I usually do it right away with any potential problem bidders right away.
