This is my buying ID
I sold an item and it was returned with a note that said it didn't match her outfit and to issue refund. This item had free shipping but of course it wasn't actually free to ship. I messaged the buyer and asked them to please do a refund request through Ebay. The buyer did and selected "changed my mind."
The next message I received was about the 10% restocking fee they would be charged. Not happy at all about it.
I charge a restocking fee to cover the shipping costs and the fact that now this item is no longer new and will have to sell again but at a lower price.
What wording would be good to respond to the restocking fee? Im hoping someone here has dealt with this situation before and it all turned out good:)

Evening,
I presume the outfit was returned in great condition, if so this is what I would say:
Dear XXX,
Thank you very much for purchasing from us and returning the XXX in excellent conditon.
I have refunded the entire purchase price less the restocking fee indicated on the listing.
We do have expenses involved with providing our customers easy returns and have kept it to a minimum.
Thank You for understanding.
Sincerely
Hope this helps,
Mr C

Thats a remorse return, and you are perfectly within your rights to charge a restocking fee to help cover some of your loss with the sale..be sure you block her.

Just that seems reasonable for a reply to the buyer.
Politely explain that changing there mind is no reason for them to take food off your table (money from your pockrt)

plain enough..if she filed,Ebay probably would have refused her refund as a remorse return..I expect she knew that and has done this before,so instead, she just sent it back to you.
