Need help with potential scammer

Hey everyone,

So I recently sold a t-shirt and the transaction went smoothly. I received the correct amount of funds to my PayPal account, but something about the seller's address seemed a little suspicious, so I conducted a reverse word search on Google (the address is "Jean Magadan (JP8272), 8374 NW 64th St., Miami FL, 33195-2686, United States") and discovered that this address belongs to a fraudulent storefront/business that somehow intercepts online transactions by, I don't know, stealing people's credit cards and then having random merchandise shipped to them? Have a look for yourself and let me know what you think.

Buyer fraud has happened to me before, but in other instances, the ACTUAL buyer (not the scammer) has access to their account/inbox. Typically, I'll message the buyer and notify them that a phony shipping address has been provided to me on the order details. The buyer will then concur with me that a scammer has intercepted the transaction, and then afterwords they will send me an updated address to ship to, and then the complication is settled. In this scenario, I messaged the buyer, but they responded assuring me that the aforementioned address is correct. I'm having a hard time believing this is the case, as I believe that someone's eBay account has been intercepted (or a fake eBay account has been created with someone's stolen credit card credentials) and is now being utilized by the scammer(s). I suppose I could be incorrect, and they really did genuinely purchase my item, but with all the negative and angry feedback that I've read online about the address, I am quite skeptical and ultimately stuck at an impasse. I've looked into eBay customer support options, but it appears to me that their customer service resources are incredibly limited and offer me no real help, as this is a very particular and nuanced situation. I don't feel comfortable messaging the buyer further, as I believe I may just be speaking to the scammer themself, so what exactly should I do in this situation? Let me know if I was unclear about anything or need to provide more details.

Thanks.

I think you'll be fine since it's a low value item (t-shirt). Scammers target more expensive items that are easily resold like electronics, cell phones, etc.

If you're unsure you can always cancel the transaction.

@violence-studios

It's a freight forwarder used by buyers in other countries.

And, yes, a lot of scammers use them, but so do a lot of good buyers.

Since it's a T shirt, I wouldn't be to worried.

Have a great day.

I agree, T shirt yes. A $2500 laptop I would cancel.

Re: Need help with potential scammer

somebody hacked into my wife's VENMO address and changed the address to this same address.  They were terrible spellers and took multiple attempts to make it good enough to be accepted by Venmo.

Re: Need help with potential scammer

That's a freight forwarder, Jet Pack.

I looked at Google Maps.

Freight forwarders are the second safest addresses you can ship to.

Most of the Money Back Guarantee stops when your shipment is accepted by them.

https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/ebay-money-back-guarantee-policy/ebay-money-back-guarantee-policy...

Most forwarders also deal with foreign import fees, stopping the "Customs Hold" scam.

And if the end customer files a Not As Described, the seller can demand return before refund, even if the seller has a No Returns policy.

And should the seller be required to send a Return Shipping Label, it goes only to the US address of the freight forwarder.

A seller is only required to provide return shipping from the buyer's input address at time of checkout - that goes for any return where a seller provides shipping ('free' returns, etc).

Re: Need help with potential scammer

Hi there did you have any luck? I just came across the same issue where I have been scammed out of a credit. My orders have been intercepted and someone requested a refund and the refund be issued to a Wallet credit. And it’s the very same address that you have posted.

The original message here is from 10/22/20.

That address is most likely a freight forwarder.

They are still doing it. I just cancelled a sale to this address. If I wanted to sell outside the US I would, but if I don't these freight forwarding companies should be banned
