Hey guys so I sold an Oculus Rift last week. I shipped it Wednesday and eBay and UPS both updated me Friday saying it was delivered. So Monday morning I wake up, and have a return request open from the dude who bought it from me saying it never arrived. I call UPS as well as re-check the tracking info online, and they verify the proof of delivery saying it was left at his front door. I’m past the 3 day wait now, and he still has the return request open. What I can do? Am I safe on my end? It’s not like I can help it if someone stole the package off the dude’s porch. I have uploaded the proof of delivery and tracking info to the open case he and I have.

it's possible, but did they file a police report if that is the case?
Was it sent with signature confirmation? Sometimes that's an added protection / proof of delivery also.
Have you talked to Ebay directly about the issue?

the fact the buyer isn't responding raises a flag with me, as sure it is doing with you also.
Usually tracking is used as judgement but I don't want to tell you all will be ok as many sellers can tell you from their experiences it wasn't always.
Hopefully ebay will rule in your favor

Thanks. Agreed, he responded after 2 days of waiting, but now isn’t responding anymore after the last 2 days. So he’s not exactly helping me help him. That said, there’s really nothing I can do anyway. I provided eBay with all of the tracking info and evidence of the delivery / shipping events. So I guess you’re right, I will just hope for the best now.lol

Figured I’d update you and anyone reading this post in the future, eBay did in fact just rule in my favor about an hour ago. They closed the case with no refund to the buyer, and nothing needed from me. What a relief

You did the right thing by uploading the tracking number to the case. That is all that is required to win. You don't need signature confirmation except when the transaction is for $750 or more. Then it is required to keep seller protection.

I hate being a pessimist, but depending on how your buyer paid, he might open a case in Paypal or with his credit card provider.

That is good.
For future reference, items over $750 REQUIRE signature confirmation per policy.
Yes I know this item did not apply but I thought I'd mention it.
Should the buyer open another case come back here and we will help you.
