Need clarification on "New with or without tag"

Anonymous
Not applicable

If I sell something purchased directly from the company, they ship it to me without a retail store tag.  The items do not have a "tag" because the name is embedded in the product.  So do I list with or without a tag?  It is new..... hmmmm

IMHO if it has no tags and you list it as with tags, you are begging for a SNAD.

My goal on eBay is to always take prudent steps to minimize the chance of a problem.

This one seems like a no-brainer to me.

Re: Need clarification on "New with or without tag"

The definitions of condition options depends on the category.

When you choose a condition status for your item, there is a link (that little i next to the word Condition) that leads to more information on the condition options for each category.  It will show what qualifies as new, new with tags, etc. for all options available per category.

In some categories the description New includes items direct from manufacturer that are sealed but do not include all retail tags/packaging, etc.

Re: Need clarification on "New with or without tag"

In the jewelry category and some others, new with tags also refers to original packaging.  So if I ordered a wallet and it didn't have a retail tag but I was going to ship it with the cellophane packaging which also had the brand and style name on it, I would consider that new with tags.  If it didn't have a retail tag or packaging, then it would new without tags.

You would list them as "New without tags". NWOT

Never tell a buyer he's getting something that he is not.

If you tell him you're using Pink packing peanuts, and use white peanuts instead, Somebody will file a complaint.

Re: Need clarification on "New with or without tag"

Lots of good advice already, I hope you have your answer. For the clothing that I list, many have tags on them so I list with tag. Those that don't have a tag yet are obviously new and never worn, I list them as no tag but describe them as never having been worn, etc. The devil is in the details. Just make sure not to list what you don't have, i.e. a tag.
Best of luck to you....
