Did you mean:

Need a NOT operator in search parameters for Listings, Orders pages.

eBay,  we need a NOT search operator in the Listings and Orders pages.

If you want to look at all of your Listings or Orders that do NOT have a certain word in the Item Title, for example, how do you do that?

Let's say half of your listings are Phones and the other half are things other than Phones.   And you want to go in and edit, view, or analyze all of the non-Phone items at one time.

So two things:  eBay take this as a needed feature.

and if anyone knows how to accomplish what I described, please share the steps.  Thanks

I am using the new version of Orders and Listings pages in Seller Hub.

It doesn't work.  Not helpful.

This is the eBay Community Selling board.   Selling.  For Sellers.

If you can remember @takikawa4, did you find this thread while viewing the Seller Discussion page or did you find a link to this thread on the main page or another page as one of the "Latest Discusions?"

Samsung s7 smartphone -gray

Samsung (s7,s6) -(16gb,silver)

That's Useless.   Thanks for nothing

Perhaps instead of throwing out an attitude to those who are trying to help, you should pose your question in a more succinct manner so those who are reading it know what the heck you're talking about.

Because when I go into my listings (If you want to look at all of your Listings) and type in a search parameter with a -sign, it gives me, what did you call it, the NOT operator. It's called a Boolean search. Look it up and learn much how things work around here.

You're question was answered exactly in the context it was asked.

I tested the suggestion to use - as the NOT operator on the Listings page before commenting.   I tested that before even posting the OP.

The suggestion to use - as the NOT operator on the Listings page search parameter does not work in the Search box.

OP specifically stated:

"I am using the new version of Orders and Listings pages in Seller Hub."

We all know that '-' works in the search that buyers use, but that's irrelevant in this discussion. It's not the same search engine.

Yep, just use the minus sign next to the word you want to exclude. In the example above, the word "gray" will be excluded.

Not on the "Orders" page in Seller Hub, which is what the OP wants to search.

I just tried it in my orders page and it worked. I'm in the hub.

dont use the search at the top of the page, set the FILTER to Item Name and then try it.  The - is ignored as others have stated.

(My Listings page in the new Seller Hub doesn't use the term "FILTER.")

Your suggestion, "don't use the search at the top of the page,"  is useful.

On my Listings page, there is a search box at the top, with a pulldown where we can select which field to search and a text input field (entry box).    What I had tried was to select "Item Title" in the pulldown, and, for example, NOT Phone,  or,  -Phone  in the text input field, then click Search.    The results displayed did not exclude Items with the word / string Phone in their Titles, as desired and expected.

Based on your suggestion to not use the search box at the top of the page,   I clicked Advanced Search (as I had tried prior to the OP),  and there there are 2 pulldown fields and a text entry box.  When the first box/menu is set to "Title" the 2nd box/menu gives the Seller the options "contains" and "matches exactly" (but no "does not contain").   (When I didn't find "does not contain" prior to the OP, I stopped there, the -Phone having already failed to work in the top Search box.)

I then tried Advanced Search,  Title, Contains, -Phone.  And I got different Search results on the Listings page.   At first glance, the search results returned on the listings page do appear to correctly exclude all listings that contain the string "phone."

Thank you for the suggestion.

On the Orders page, I did not have the same luck.   There is no Advanced search on the Orders page (new orders page, seller hub).   Using the -Phone search paramater for Item Titile on the Orders page returns search results that display only all Orders that INCLUDE the string "phone" rather than exclude them.   (the NOT operator does not work here either, nor does ><).

So,

  1. We have a workaround for the Listings page, (use Advanced Search, not Basic Search) thank you.
  2. Basic Search doesn't work correctly with the - operator on the Listings Page
  3. The new Orders page does not have Advanced Search
  4. Sill don't have a way to search for "NOTs"  in the new Orders page.

    Thanks!

I just tried it in my orders page and it worked. I'm in the hub.

And I just tried it again, and the search engine ignores the '-', and does an "inclusive" search, i.e. for the search string "X -(Y)', instead of returning results for "X not Y", it returns results for "X and Y".

I agree that's how it's working (not working) on the new Orders page.

On the Listings page, see my prior post , just above, for a workaround using Advanced Search.

This is still broken, eBay.  It's also very illogical.
